Buying contact lenses online

Does anyone buy lenses online rather than going through Specsavers or similar where they insist on endless consultations and argue with you about what you need even if you tell them the prescription they are trying to give you makes you go cross-eyed?

I know my prescription. It might not be the one that the high street chain want to give me but it allows me to comfortably work on the computer all day. I am done arguing with them about it and then waiting weeks and weeks for lenses to arrive in-store, only to then be unsuitable and having to start the process again.

Looking for a good, reliable, reasonably priced site. Cheers!

I use www.visiondirect.co.uk although you will have to confirm you have an up to date prescription.
Much faster than getting lenses via the optician. I used to wait weeks for my left to be ordered in and then found I could get next day delivery from vision direct Blush

SURPRISE

Sorry, that's the code.

BasinHaircut · 27/04/2021 08:23

Thanks @andynarwhal will they let me order without seeing me then? My experience of the high st chains are that they want to see you to check the prescription or at least see the card in its physical form to check it’s from within the last 6 months?

You can order online but they’ll ask for your optician’s details to confirm the prescription. You can’t just tell them what you want

I've used Lens store for years. Next day delivery. No need to show proof of your prescription and they also offer free sight tests for customers through high street partners.

I have used ‘feel good contacts’ for about 18 months. So much cheaper than my optician and optician were rubbish at making sure my lenses were in when they were due. ‘Feel good contacts’ have a subscription service so I don’t need to do anything unless my prescription changes. They didn’t ask for proof of prescription, but each delivery comes with a leaflet reminding you to have regular checks and with info about healthy lense use.

I second The Lens Store as no proof required. Like you, I knew what I needed but because I couldn't easily get my lenses in and out at the start in front of somebody, I wasn't allowed lenses. I ordered them online using the details from the opticians and with practice became adept at popping them in and out.

Another vote for Feel good contacts

This is important. I once had an issue and was able to see a high street Optician straight away. It is an excellent service.

I've used all of the above, I move around dependong on the price.

Stopped using high St opticians in 2014 and other than a recent update to y prescription that I needed and got via specsavers I haven't been back to an optician for contacts since.

I get clariti hydrogel dailies which are about £35 a month hence the shopping around. I don't recall ever sending in a prescription to any of them and in actual fact last Yr I felt my prescription was wrong so played around with different strengths and no one questioned it ever.

Glittertwins · 27/04/2021 09:32

I use pureoptical.co.uk
Very helpful too and can speak to them on the phone if there is a query

PinkCookie11 · 27/04/2021 09:34

Another one for Lenstore

Loveistheonlyhipe · 27/04/2021 09:39

Interesting, thank you

gotalottolose · 27/04/2021 09:39

Contactlenses.co.uk are very good. No need for a proof of prescription and they do some good own brand lenses that are cheap but the best ones I’ve tried. The ones Specsavers tried to sell me were £30 a month and on the site I buy 30 pairs for £18.

3JsMa · 27/04/2021 09:45

I use Feel Good Contacts UK for last 2 years, good value and next day delivery. And small pack of Haribo with every delivery,I think it's quite nice touch, make me smile every time I get my lenses Grin.

BasinHaircut · 27/04/2021 11:31

Thanks all! Will have a look at those you have suggested.

Also, I wear monthly lenses for 2 months. Have been doing this for 10+ years with no problems. They don't self destruct after 30 days.
