Can you imagine this and tell me what you see?

If you imagine yourself lying on a sun lounger on a beach...in your minds eye, are you 'in' your body on the lounger or are you looking at yourself on the sun lounger from somewhere else? Or something else? How does your minds eye see you?

The first.

Ohdoleavemealone · 26/04/2021 19:32

I don't see me, just the view I would see from the Lounger

LeonardLikesThisPost · 26/04/2021 19:32

The second one, like I'm hovering above looking down

Mamette · 26/04/2021 19:32

In my body.

jellyfishinatent · 26/04/2021 19:33

I am in my body

Are there people who see themselves externally? Shock

Besom · 26/04/2021 19:33

In my body looking out

bruffin · 26/04/2021 19:33

I dont have much of a minds eye but i imagine seeing my feet in front and scenery

LubaLuca · 26/04/2021 19:34

In my body. I can see my own hotdog knees.

SassenachWitch · 26/04/2021 19:35

Interesting question, when I first read it I was going to answer that I’m in my body, but after giving it some thought, I’d say I’m actually outside looking in.

But, I do judge myself at lot, so the reason I say looking in is because I’m lying there imagining myself through others eyes, if that makes sense.

I can only see myself as if I'm watching myself from a distance and I can't visualise being in my body in the chair. None of my family do this, they are all in the chair and see the view, so I'm wondering if I'm a bit odd.

In my body. I can feel the sun on my face & hear the ocean

PembrokeshireDreaming · 26/04/2021 19:35

In my body looking at the view.

Maskedrevenger · 26/04/2021 19:35

I’m on the lounger but also trying to involve my other senses to enhance the experience as my minds eye isn’t really strong enough to actually feel I’m there. So I might try to imagine the warmth of the sun on my skin, the smell of sun cream and the sound of the waves.

Passthesauce · 26/04/2021 19:36

I am elsewhere looking at myself, as if in a photo.

I appear to be much more imaginative than previously thought, as I look great in a swimsuit and at least 10 years younger too Grin.

Kenworthington · 26/04/2021 19:36

In it

24GinDrinkingOnceTheKidsInBed · 26/04/2021 19:36

Both, I first see the view as I’m looking up from the lounger and then like a film it cuts to me.. watch me on the lounger from outside of my body.

I think it is odd...

DustyMaiden · 26/04/2021 19:38

From a distance.

Chatanooga1 · 26/04/2021 19:39

Neither I’m too busy looking out for that tall, handsome young man who walked past me earlier wearing just a pair of shirts, smooth brown skin, curly black hair, muscles, dark brown eyes, a hint of a smile and a subtle side eye as he walked past me.

Ok the last bit was in my dreams.....

I think you might be right! Any armchair psychologists on here who may be able to shed any light I wonder?!

I can picture both if I want. Looking out at the view or I can picture myself on the lounger.

Notable · 26/04/2021 19:40

I see myself in the lounger. I could imagine it from the other perspective, in my own body, but it’s not my first instinct to do so.

Besom · 26/04/2021 19:41

Interesting. When I was a young child I can remember seeing myself from a distance. I imagined myself like the girl off the tv test card - the one with the blackboard and the clown.

TwoBlueFish · 26/04/2021 19:42

In my body. My DH has no minds eye at all and was quite astounded to learn that other people really do see pictures in their heads. He gets very frustrated at things like meditations that ask you to picture things.

daisypond · 26/04/2021 19:42

Interesting.
I definitely am in my body looking out at the view. I’m not looking at myself.
