Has anyone moved to Iceland?

Can you tell me your experience? I have visited the country a few times and I do dream of moving there, I would like to know how realistic a dream that is. I have two DC (pre-school and toddler) and I don't think I can wait until they are 18.
What's life like in Iceland with kids? What jobs do you do?
I have visited lots of different towns in Norway and feel a similar fondness for there as well.

Yes, I moved here in 2011 and am now a citizen. It was very straightforward back then thanks to freedom of movement, as Iceland is in the EEA which is the same as the EU in this respect.

It's mostly great here - there are a lot of benefits to Iceland as a place to raise children. It's no utopia of course, but I have no desire to move back to the UK and I love living here. I have two kids, 3 and 5.

Ideally you should have done it before Brexit as it will now be a lot harder for you than it was for me. For non-EU/EEA immigrants, you must have a valid job offer (or come to study, or marry an Icelandic citizen) before you move. This is possible, but it depends on what skills you have.

What job do you do now?
