Sneaky, Sainsbury's, very sneaky...

It dawned on me a couple of weeks ago that rather than refunding a substitution (there are certain foods I can't eat), they now issue a coupon.
Has anyone else noticed?

They’ve been doing this for at least the past year!

For those pointing out that they have been doing this for a long time, I have only relatively recently been using them for deliveries.
And then, admittedly my fault, I didn't realise straight away, as usually the substitutions are fine.

I have been shopping with Sainsbury's online since before it was 'fashionable'. At first you just paid the increased price if necessary for any subs, it then went to a refund as a coupon. Not fantastic but better than nothing.

Refunds have always been back to the card if a product is either returned or the driver does it as the product is damaged etc. (Leaky milk). If the refund is being given as a voucher you need to check this as that is not what is says. I will often get both though on a particular shop - a coupon for a sub and a direct refund for a rejected item.

@TracyBeakerSoYeah

My delivery driver takes back any damaged items (broken eggs, loaf of bread with a split in the wrapper, squashed tomatoes etc) & scans it so the amount comes off the bill & the refund goes back to your bank a/c.
When I get a broken egg, the driver refunds me and lets me keep the rest.

Crazy that you need social media to get a refund. What if you don't have or want a social media account?
