Getting motivated

Help!

How do I get my arse Into gear?

I can't find the motivation for healthy eating and exercise

Last lock down I got really into running but that wore off over winter and now I can't get my mojo back

I've gained weight. Clothes don't fit. I'm an emotional eater and always overeat

In the past I have done diet clubs, calorie tracking. They're good for a while but it always wears off.

Any tips or advice?

I'm exactly the same as you need to get motivated again! So following with interest. Did low carb exante in October and stuck to it, lost weight, but now have put some back on and can not for the life of me get motivated again!

I planned to go for a run this morning but still not gone out

I have a 3 year old which accounts for some of the fatigue

Im exactly the same - hoping I'll find some inspiration here.

Saw a thread here yesterday where someone started couch to 5k. I'd love to do it, but just cant get the motivation.

Im heavy, unhealthy and my clothes dont fit. Im in such a bad routine.

I work full time and have a 7yo and 2yo. Outside of wor, DC are always with me, so even the couch yo 5k, id have to do it with a buggy which is the thing most putting me off.

I got up on Wednesday morning early like 6am and went for a walk before work. Was like yes I'm finally motivated, but was knackered for the rest of the week, between work and kids, daily grind gets me down!

Also am a emotional eater, if I'm tired I eat carbs.

I find motivation hard so I fast. I find it allows me to think less about being motivated

needtogetmyAintoG · 25/04/2021 11:43

I did it! I went out and did a jog/walk. For 30 mins

Feet were hurting to going to get new trainers to spur me on. They feel very worn out

Gave myself a good mental talking to whilst hammering the pavement. Start small. Every little step helps.

Well done OP. I struggle with motivation too. This might sound morbid but I think of everyone I know who died young, and of my older family members who had dementia. Exercise is so important for preventing illnesses.

Emotional and comfort eater here too.

What I found works well, is starting to substitute one small unhealthy snack or part of a meal, with something healthier and less caloric.

So for example, yesterday 5pm was approaching - which is when I’ll normally have half a box of cookies or a magnum or half a family bag of crisps. So instead I cut myself a few pieces of pineapple and had that. Instead of a bag of crisps at lunch I’ll have some cucumber sticks. Half a bowl of strawberries at breakfast instead of an extra muffin. One small thing each day, slowly building up to 2, 3 and so on... until I make the transition to much healthier meals and can then allow myself one treat each day.

I hate exercise and running, so I make myself walk everywhere I can. Even if I wake up 30 minutes earlier so I can fit in a walk to work instead of catching the bus. Every little helps and the first few days are hellish but then your body starts getting used to it.

I was low carb for a few years, I too lost my motivation. I really recommend watching or listening to the Rich Roll podcast mastering your microbiome with Dr Will Bulciewicz. Can't seem to link to it but understanding the principles in it has got my mojo back. I'm fuelled by fibre now!

@AdaFuckingShelby thanks! This is something I haven't tried. Will give it a go
