How do you plan/use everything?

So we as a family have found ourselves with one main earner. Nothing strange about that I'm sure.

I've had to give up work due to health conditions I have and very much doubt I will return to work soon, if at all.

As such we have the wage of a 20 hour contract to support us.

We are fortunate that our utilities etc are manageable.

I have applied for universal credit and also PIP. These take a while to be processed so we are living literally like we have nothing to spend, so that if we DO need something, we can afford it.

I approached the local
Food bank who have been amazing at kitting us out with food and toiletries for this week, and will do so for the next 3 weeks until I (hopefully) get a UC payment.

I am not used to living to a budget per se with food. We don't waste much but I often do find broccoli past it's best, or wobbly carrots when I replenish the fridge, which are binned.

What is the best way to ensure everything is used to maximise what we have?

I have limited freezer capacity so bulk cooking and freezing isn't really do-able (it's currently filled with the frozen veg we could buy).

And ultimately, how do I MN a chicken?!
