Vitamin D high - any risks to this?

I've been knocking back the vitamin D lately, as it's supposed to help with a whole heap of things, including covid. Just had a test and while the upper limit is 250 nmol/L, mine has come back as 369! Obviously I'm going to cut down somewhat, but am wondering what the side effects of too much vitamin D may be? Can't seem to find much online, apart from things I'm definitely not suffering from, such as nausea etc.

Anyone know anything about this? Obviously I've gone overboard in the attempt to protect myself from covid!

Actually thought you meant snorting it Grin

You will turn into a wrinkly walnut?

Everything is unsafe in too high dose. Leave it for the summer is my first thought.

If it's high for a sustained period of time then yes it can be harmful - heart attack, stroke at the top end of complications of vitD toxicity, headaches and nausea at the less severe end of the scale. How much were you taking?? Your genetic predisposition and cultural and geographic background also play a role into how much vitamin D you are likely to need through your diet vs made by the body directly.

I know someone who was prescribed a very high dose and it caused prolonged diahorrea.

Well, I made the mistake of buying the vitamin D gummies and, honestly, they're bloody delicious! So it was no hardship to take a few at a time...Last time I was checked my vitamin D was on the low side of normal so figured it was sensible to supplement. Guess not so sensible to knock them back like wine gums Hmm

Re dosage, not sure, they're 'two a day' and I've been taking at least five...yes, I know, I know.

JesusInTheCabbageVan - may try snorting it next time my levels drop Smile

knock them back like wine gums

You loon 🤣🤣

Lay off them and buy some wine gums instead!

Think I'll be ok if I lay off now then. No one has said I'm likely to die so reckon things should be ok. At least it was checked before levels reached 500...
