Imposter syndrome help!

I’ve always been a people pleaser, always tried to be best I can be but I’m really struggling with my new boss and imposter syndrome. I have some positive feedback but not much. I think it’s just the way this manager is as other have similar issues. I doubt feedback to him will make that much difference to his behaviour.

I just need to shake this feeling that im doing a bad job as I know it’s not true or some tips on how to manage the negative thoughts. Has anyone else got imposter syndrome? How do you manage it?

Hello OP, I am so so sorry to hear you are struggling. I have also struggled with imposter syndrome in the past and it was absolutely awful so I do understand. First things first, you’re not going to feel like this forever. It may seem like it but you have worked hard to be in your role and will continue to do so so you will eventually seamlessly blend in to feeling like you belong.

I would advise challenging the negative thoughts. Are you trying you hardest? Are you happy with the work you are doing/producing? Is that work of good quality? Because that is enough.

As you said others have similar issues with the manager so it isn’t just you. Some managers just don’t give regular feedback unfortunately. However, them not doing so is not automatically a reflection on you.

All the best OP Flowers
