Hangovers - anyone else feel really emotional?

Hi,

So slightly hungover today 🤕🙄 Made the mistake of saying to dp at 5.30 last night "I know it's only Thursday, but the sun's out... Shall we have a glass of wine in the garden?" A glass turned into two and two glasses turned into almost two bottles 🤦‍♀️

Anyway, I've felt worse in terms of headaches, feeling sick etc, but I'm so emotional! Everything is making me want to cry and then I realised that that's pretty much every time I have a hangover these days.

Is this common? Is it just a sign of age? Since entering my 30's (now mid way through), I've noticed the hangovers are becoming so much worse!

Wanting to cry though? Confused I guess this can now go hand in hand with "the fear".

Yes it is alcohol depression

liverpool1981 · 23/04/2021 11:31

I really hate myself with a hangover I just have to sleep so I don't feel suicidal. Get a shower and eat crap all day. Call a friend for a happy chat x

BusterGonad · 23/04/2021 11:32

God yes. I get 'The Fear' everything worries me and I'm scared to even read a text message! It's awful, you'll feel better tomorrow.

Panicatthegarden · 23/04/2021 11:33

If you have the time I find a soppy film that you'll have a good old cry to will get it all out your system and you'll feel 10 times better!

Hope you recover soon Grin

@liverpool1981, I really struggle to nap in the day, but I have come for a lie down. I'm really craving a McDonald's, but can't even be arsed to get one, so will just lie here feeling cross with myself for a little while longer.

Alcohol is a depressant. This is what it does when consumed in large quantities. For that reason alone I have been reducing my consumption—it sucks waking up and feeling weepy or paranoid or not yourself.

Get some rest, and try to remember how much you hate this feeling. Flowers

Billythecandlestickmaker · 23/04/2021 11:38

As a fellow hungover, mid 30 something, I feel your pain.
Todays hangover had ended in migrane and not being able to move for a good while... have only had a couple of hours sleep.

.....I never felt like this in my 20s.
There's no doubt it gets worse as you get older.

(I'm not eating my sons easter eggs on the quiet and drinking tea in bed, dreading going out in the real world after midday, as I made plans this afternoon! Confused)

CoffeandPancakes · 23/04/2021 11:38

@BusterGonad, we have friends coming over tonight who like wine, so I'm not sure I will! Really need to work on my self control Grin Nah, I will definitely be pacing myself.

@Panicatthegarden, I know what you mean actually. Definitely feel a bit better when I just let it out.

Definitely go get a Macdonald's.

Billythecandlestickmaker · 23/04/2021 11:38

*now

CoffeandPancakes · 23/04/2021 11:44

Thanks @ShagMeRiggins.

@Billythecandlestickmaker, 😬 Sucks doesn't it?

@Horehound, it's a 20 minute drive away and that feels like a proper challenge, plus I'm supposed to be making burgers tonight. Can you double burger? 🤔

OP posts:
CoffeandPancakes · 23/04/2021 11:46

Tbh it's the salty fries and coke I want more than the burger. God I feel lazy. Ugh.

Right! I'm getting up!

JennyBond · 23/04/2021 11:48

I hate to break it to you but it only gets worse in your 40s.

I’m not generally an anxious person but the day after a few drinks and I become a nervous wreck.

Deliveroo it and have a nap. You most likely had a shit sleep due to booze.

CoffeandPancakes · 23/04/2021 11:54

@JennyBond, noooooo! Well I suppose it was only ever going to go in one direction Sad

OP posts:
CoffeandPancakes · 23/04/2021 11:56

@idontlikealdi, I would, but I think we're the only place on the planet it doesn't deliver to.

See?! Paranoia! Confused

OP posts:
CoffeandPancakes · 23/04/2021 11:57

Oh and definitely didn't have a good nights sleep. Better than usual after drinking, but still pretty crap.

OP posts:
CoffeandPancakes · 23/04/2021 11:59

Oooo I could have a ready salted crisp sandwich 😁 That could work

OP posts:
CoffeandPancakes · 23/04/2021 14:36

So I've had a good cry about absolutely nothing, a tuna, mayo and kettle chip sandwich and I'm about 70% better 👍
