Is anyone around to answer an Eid question?

I am seeing my friend later I know she is observing Ramadan so I have a couple of questions if anyone is around. I have an Eid card for her and her family when should I give her this? Last year I just posted it as obviously I couldn’t see her.

Then just out of curiosity I know there are exceptions for observing Ramadan for children, people who are pregnant or breastfeeding etc., but I was wondering if there are exceptions for certain occupations? Not sure what but maybe surgeons etc. You’d want them to be hydrated I imagine? Thanks in advance.

It’s a personal decision to fast so some people choose not to during certain periods or for various other reasons. For many, safety of others during something like surgery would trump observance through fasting but they still observe in other ways and fast at other times during Ramadan.

Thank you @Hopdathelf also any ideas on the card?

What’s the concern around the card? That she wouldn’t be able to open it or that it would be more appropriate posted? I think just hand it over if you want.

I wouldn't give her the Eid card now, Ramadan has only just started! I'd post it nearer the end of Ramadan, closer to when Eid occurs. Right now she's in the Ramadan headspace, not the Eid headspace.

Do you mean is it OK to give the card during Ramadan to be opened at Eid? I don't know the answer to that, hopefully someone that does can clarify.

I understood that in lieu of fasting, you could also donate money or fast at another time.

Yes thanks I’ll see her everything week as our DDs are in an after school class together so just wondered if they were like Xmas cards you hand them over anytime before Xmas, or if they are handed over after Ramadan at Eid.

I would hold off with the card yet, ramadan normally last 29-30 days so it is early yet. As for fasting rules, some people may choose not to for health reasons, my db won't fast on days where he has long shifts (junior dr), depends on the person and what they think they can manage.
