Lying awake and I can’t help thinking about a weird conversation I had with my neighbour this morning. Mike runs a restaurant (currently doing takeaways), we were chatting on the street corner when his phone rang. It was a beer supplier who wanted to discuss business. Mike said no mate, I can’t help you, I just work there. The guy you want is Mike Surname (his own name!). Let me find out where he is and I’ll text you a number you can reach him on.
Then he said sorry that was a beer supplier, and he just resumed our conversation. AIBU or is this weird? Why wouldn’t he just say yes I’m Mike but now isn’t a good time, can I call you back later? I just found it very odd and I can’t help wondering why he’d lie like that? Is there some business reason that i as a non business person am not aware of? Or is Mike just a pathological liar?
