Best places for affordable maternity and baby clothes/gear (NI)

I'm pretty new to the UK, arrived in Northern Ireland in February of 2020 Hmm and finding what to buy where in terms of maternity and baby clothes/gear kind of confusing. For obvious reasons I haven't had much of an opportunity to scope out the shops. I'm just looking at ASDA and they seem to have a good selection but what is the quality like? Buying clothes in a supermarket seems weird to me. Tesco?

So just looking for recommendations for good quality, affordable basics for myself and baby due in August. I really don't like paying above the odds, nor can I afford too or I probably wouldn't be so bothered.

TIA

Normally I just buy everything in the charity shops but it's a bit harder for newborn and maternity wear.

Hi, I'm also due in August too. I bought some maternity clothes from ASOS, and all of the baby clothes we've bought come from Tesco or Asda. I was impressed by the quality for the price

I got most of my maternity stuff online I bought from ASOS who sell many maternity brands a lot are very reasonable such as New Look. Missguided and Boohoo also have a maternity range and usually have some sort of discount code.

Thanks! It's just hard to know what's what when you're not from somewhere and the shops are all different iykwim.

I bought some stuff off of fisherandfraser.com, they have really cute stuff and good prices too! :)

Just get it online. Next, ASOS.

There's a mama's and papa's in Victoria Square. Smyth toy shop do stuff too.

Charity shops are fine! Often have tons of barely worn tiny stuff. Find a nice area with plenty and have a good rummage. Also eBay for bundles.

Asda great for baby clothes. I found H&M great maternity clothes, I also used to get long vest tops in Dunnes (not maternity but would cover bump) could wear them under normal tops which not long enough. Dorethy Perkins & New Look also had some maternity stuff.
Good few years since I pregnant good luck. Some great Sure Start services in NI look into them great support.

I'm in NI, born and bred here. Hello OP!!

Join your local FB pages, often there will be freebie or buy-secondhand pages. I have got a lot from those and also given away a lot as my DC outgrow their clothes and kit.

If possible, try to support local baby shops for things like cots, car seats etc, although I know these can be more expensive.

For all my moaning about it, I actually really miss Mothercare as it was a one stop shop. Horrible mismanagement sunk that ship and not much has replaced it.

Online sites like those mentioned above are also great. So much has gone online now, and it is easier in some ways.

Local Gumtree is also handy for kit - baby baths, cots etc and clothing bundles.

Didn't buy maternity clothes, but I have bought plenty of other clothes from Asda both for myself and my kids, the quality is fine. Tesco and Sainsbury clityes are also good value.

Dunes is ace for new baby stuff if you can't get it second hand.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I’m just patiently waiting for the shops to reopen, aren’t we all. I will definitely be going to the charity shops as I love them and have heaps of great stuff from them for my older DD. Dunnes and Primark I only went in briefly pre-March 2020. We went to ASDA the other day and there was some good clothes there. First time I’ve looked at clothes anywhere since the end of last year.
