Anyone not breaking up on 28th May?

Trying to make some plans and wondering how busy public places (parks and beaches etc) could be.

Could you look at the local authority for the place you are interested in going to and check the term dates?

Crunchymum · 22/04/2021 19:53

Good thinking and yes it seems to be half term there too.

Reason I asked is there was a lot of difference in Easter dates even in my borough (we finished 31st, school 2 roads down the Friday before etc)

I think everyone in England will have the same week because of the Bank Holiday. (No idea if varies in other parts of the UK.)

Well, if it's half term there it answers your question, I'd have thought. It'll be busy. Even if a few schools remain open, the LA ones will be shut and that's enough to make it busy.

May half term is almost always W/c Spring Bank Holiday Monday, the last Monday in May. It’s 31st May this year.

We have an inset day on Friday 27 May though. (Kirklees, West Yorks, but only one of my DC’s schools).

SillyBub · 22/04/2021 20:01

In England, the Whitsun holiday week is pretty much the only one that all LA's stick to the same dates for school holidays.

mnahmnah · 22/04/2021 20:02

Easter always differs a lot around the country. But the other holidays always seem to be the same

Cindy87 · 22/04/2021 20:02

As others have said, it'll be the same because of the bank holiday.

UserTwice · 22/04/2021 20:03

Everyone has the same week for this half term because it's the break in A Levels and GCSE exams. Yes, I know they are not happening this year, but holidays were decided well in advance. Private schools are likely to have a second week too.

samlovesdilys · 22/04/2021 20:04

May half term holiday is usually the same everywhere because of exam timetables...but of course this year they aren't happening...but I honestly doubt schools will change their calendar, usually it is agreed a year in advance..

Waxonwaxoff0 · 22/04/2021 21:03

As PPs have said, May half term is the same for all schools to coincide with the bank holiday. It's the one half term that is the same everywhere.

In English and Welsh schools, pretty much everyone will be off the w/b 31 May to coincide with the bank holiday.

I know of a few primary schools who have a shorter Easter holiday and two weeks off in May, and they are also off the w/b 24 May.
