Anyone else had bad stomach flu recently?

I thought we'd been very careful, still not really been out yet so I was surprised to have picked something up. Me and my DDad who I live with have had some kind of virus/ stomach flu for the last week. Definitely not Covid (I didn't loose my sense of smell and instead, everything smelt really strong and horrible), but it really has taken it out of me. I'm out of breath from going to the bathroom to brush my teeth and only been downstairs once all week. I just wondered if anyone else has had anything like this and if something is going around?

Also, if anyone has any suggestions for how to get back to normal, I'd be very grateful. I've not been wiped out like this by a virus in as long as I can remember. I'm an absolute state but don't think I can stand up long enough to get in the shower yet!

First things first - have you had a covid test? If not, you need one.

I tested positive for Covid and my main symptoms were diarrhoea and breathlessness. I would get a test.

Covid doesn’t just cause loss of sense of smell, it causes changes. Heightened or altered sense of smell is common, as are the rest of your symptoms. Get tested !

BagLadyy · 22/04/2021 20:21

You can't say "definitely not Covid" unless you've had a test.

This! I am sick of people saying 'definitely not Covid' when they don't actually know. If the OP has had a test fair enough, but most I've encountered haven't, they just immediately say it.

I had something similar on Monday- and said definitely not Covid - until yesterday when I tested positive! Non of the main symptoms- but feeling really ill - get tested ASAP!

Oh dear. I can't believe that, more than a year in, people are still deciding that they haven't got covid without bothering to get tested.

OP, please get a test. Whether it turns out to be covid or not, I hope you get well soon.Flowers
