How do you clean an oven with dental floss?

I'm watching obsessive compulsive cleaners and twice now they've said the clean person cleans their cooker with floss.

How would you even do that?

I'm going to be cleaning mine this week, but I'm just going to try scrubbing it with a dishwasher tablet.

Slowly and painfully I imagine. Life is too short.

And, more importantly, WHY would you clean an oven with dental floss?

DMil once removed the nobs of her gas cooker to clean behind them and then had to call in a service man to have them put back on
