Internet range extender recommendations

HedgePutty · 22/04/2021 15:19

Have a house with average walls, not old cottage thick or anything. Looking for recommendations for range extenders to get the WiFi out to the garage and the garden. Or should I suck up the Bt prices for whatever it is they keep emailing me about?

Amazon eero works well for us.

Should say it's the only thing we've tried.

We have a Nova mesh system in place to get all the way around our house (thick walls) and to get it to our summerhouse at the bottom of the garden. It works by boosting your current WiFi. We swear by it (as do the kids because the PS4 is in the summerhouse and they need WiFi for that).

I just picked a TP link one from Amazon for about £13. Works a treat.

We’ve got the Google one, it works really well for us.

Kayjay2018 · 22/04/2021 15:39

@HedgePutty we have got Google mesh installed at home which seems to have sorted our issues

HedgePutty · 22/04/2021 15:40

@TheQueef do they only work from the main hub, or say can you stick one in a room, then another one at the bottom of the garage and the garage one will feed in a chain?

If we already have a house full of Alexa’s, is there any benefit to having the Amazon one, or will google be just as good?

I've just bought the TP-Link RE305 as I'd bought some smart bulbs for outside the house, and am impressed with it

I don't think there is any benefit of keeping to Amazon brand (Saying that they are typically easy to set up as per amazon products) we have the first eero with the router (that one needs to be Ethernet connected) then one in the kitchen which covers the back garden and back bedrooms plus one upstairs at the front.
Stone and concrete walls are our issue plus the bonus of strong Wi-Fi even in the garden.
