Finger prick test

I had to do a finger prick test and fill a large tube with blood. I struggled to get blood and it took an hour to fill. By then the blood had got thick and started to clot and get stringy. Will they still be able to use this sample for testing or will I have to start again?

Some reagents make the blood clot in the bottle in proper blood test tubes. However, a sample that took an hour to get is pretty unlikely to be useful. Maybe best speak to the person who ordered the test.

Did you drink loads of water before? That usually helps. Also they are meant to give you multiple lancets so you can prick other fingers if one starts to dry up. Not idea if it would be useful (I don’t work on the lab side, more on the testing side).
