If you had 50k what would you do to make money on it?

So I can get hold of 50k. We want to pay school fees of 14k per year.

Can anyone think of a clever way to use the 50k to make money to pay the school fees and still end up with the majority of the 50k?

I've always said that it takes money to make money!!

I live in a touristy coastal area, no room for holiday lets at my house, thinking maybe buying a static caravan on a site and rent that.

Any clever ideas welcomed.

I'm not looking to make the full £14k a year. But maybe 5-7k towards the fees.

Personally I’d do a lot of research and buy some Bitcoin. My friend put in £30k last year and is withdrawing just under £150k this week. Gamble and all that. They’ve done a LOT of research about crypto currencies and tried to be as sensible as possible. Still a risk. But their payoff will be worth it

10% yield is pretty high you are more likely to get 1000 or if lucky on investments 2000.

Trading, learning about the market and picking stocks and shares carefully

I really really wouldn't do this. Really bad advice but I keep seeing it here.

If you live in touristy area would you consider an icecream van or coffee van for weekend work?

Justdowhatyouweretold · 22/04/2021 10:52

@HotToddyColdSauvignon wow that's loads, although it's too big of a gamble I think for us.

Stocks and shares could be an option, in fact we put 7k in a stocks and shares ISA last year during lock down when everything was really low, I must look it up!

Crypto. Bull market right now. Easy to make money. Youd have to be careful as it's a bubble and will go down again. Only gamble what you're willing to lose.

Your expectations about returns are a bit skewed. You cant have an easily accessed investment that makes that good a return. You might make more money investing in property but you'd have to the that up for a good long time.

You could invest in a camper van that a company lets out for you, there have been special schemes around for a while.

Or convert a vehicle for rent.

Look up Lara the Scandi Landi, investment maybe 25k rents for £200 a night via a specialist rental company.

Really advise against crypto currencies. You really need to spend a lot of time learning about it all and obviously even then nothing is guaranteed. I invested in Ethereum a few years ago and really had to look at my money as a complete gamble. I’ve seen it drop nearly to the point of which I’ve bought. Double and drop again. At the moment it’s very high but who knows.

Could you afford a static caravan on a park to rent out?
