People's energy (electric)

I'm with people's energy and paying through the nose atm but my account says its £528 in credit. Does that mean they owe me? Thinking about switching. I've only had prepayment meters before.

Have you submitted meter readings recently?
The credit normally builds up until they either do estimated readings or you submit readings and then they work out what you've used and the credit balance will change.

How much are you paying and do you just have electric and no gas?

NewbiePlanter · 22/04/2021 08:14

Yeah I do meter readings every month. I'm just electric. Paying £244 a month but our electric usage has severly hone down

Jeezo that's a lot to pay each month. Did you never ask to reduce the payment?
I'd ask for a refund of some of it or if you switch you will get some back too

We have just swopped to peoples energy so interesting to see how they handle this. With British Gas we could just reduce the direct debit on the app but can’t see that on the people’s energy site.

I'm with Octopus and can also adjust my payment as required

NewbiePlanter · 22/04/2021 09:45

Yeah no option to reduce online. The people who live her before us was a very high usage house. Now we've moved in seems we are still on that rate even though I called when we moved in. Its octopus I'm looking to moving to.

I’m with Octopus and am massive in credit, paying 120£ per month to get it down (single household, terraced, careful with useage etc) I don’t understand how it works tbh

dementedpixie · 22/04/2021 10:35

Octopus gives the option of returning money to your account if you have a big credit balance

NewbiePlanter · 22/04/2021 10:55

Octopus sounds like it's the one to go with 😊
