Who else has celebrations planned for summer and is crossing their fingers (or are you more optimistic)?
Daughter's bat mitzvah, postponed from last June is at end of this one. For a while was thinking 'Oh, maybe we should have just stuck with it and just done something on Zoom' after we saw a few later in the year, but I'm glad we stuck it out. I feel a bit edge-of-my-seat now I'm starting to pay for things, though - so much could happen in the space of 8 weeks, either nationally, locally or to our household.
We are having a Zoom ceremony, partly because it's a fall back if anything prevents a physical event and also to include DH's family abroad. We are getting someone to manage filming/streaming, not doing anything fancy but thought it would be nice to have to worry about all the little bits of troubleshooting ourselves, and they will also ensure it doesn't drag on and keeps people engaged. Like I said, worst case scenario at least we will have that.
On the day itself, we will have a garden party afterwards in IL's garden - matters are complicated by it being the first weekend after the day Boris Johnson alleges everything will magically go back to normal, which I doubt, so we are assuming 30 guests in garden (as per May 17 rules), but maybe up to to 60 as our caterer can go up to that many with minimal notice (plus it's as much variation as I can cope with). The timing also means all providers are super busy because everyone wants a party that weekend for every single one they missed in the last year, but I think I've found someone to cover everything else we need. Our catering is a food truck so I decided if there's some disaster and we're all locked down we could always park it and let invitees come and get some food to mark the occasion!
How is everyone else with a celebration coming up feeling?
