Just do not understand this

Hi. Just posting as I cannot get my head around this.

Yesterday i was returning from work, and very close to my home a former shop is being converted to flats. As i got out of uber there was a plastering van with 3 men in parked outside. One of the men started shouting 'dragon' at me and spitting towards me. i carried on home ignoring him and he kept shouting and i could hear him still spitting.

This morning, they have sworn at my children and thrown a can at them on their way to school/college (DS 10 and DD 17) i leave a bit earlier than my kids, my DD drops my son at Breakfast club then goes to college.

I just cant wrap my head around grown working men doing this??
I have reported to police via 101 and an officer will come on Saturday.
They asked why i thought they are targeting us but it is so random.

Any thoughts other than they are just brainless idiots??

Sounds like brainless idiots to me, sorry you've experienced that. If someone can find out who their employers are, they should be told.

What's the name of the plastering company? Name and shame them. This is unacceptable.

If someone spits are you in times of Covid id call the police there and then as an emergency / disgusting behaviour of what sound like absolute c*nts!

What on earth is wrong with people!!!

Surely these aren't the actions of people who are in their right mind? Spitting, name calling and throwing cans. FFS.

I'd contact the plastering company as well as the police. Disgraceful behaviour.

This is disgusting. So sorry you had to deal with that. Are they random plasterers and you’ve never met them before?

I would consider having a video on if it happen again so you have evidence.

Hi all,

I need to get the Reg as the police advised it. I did take a number off the side of the van but its a mobile so I'm worried they aren't part of a bigger company.
I do intend to name and shame. i'm hoping the van is still there when i get home. The other thing is they saw me enter my home and kids come out. Just crazy!!

Gosh this would upset me immensely. I’m sorry this happened to you and your family. Are you able to record if you walk past them again. You should report to the company.

Hi no i am white, as are my children. The guy looked white also.

I did only get a quick glance. No other reason than we are females/children. I am just so angry. I only remember the 1st part of the letters. if i find out the rest i intend to name and shame.

I mean 2 kids on their own?? He must feel like a big man

Report to the school and the college that children are being abused on their way to school and college by some men in a van, and tell them where it is parked.
The police are likely to take it more seriously if the school reports it as a safeguarding concern.

You've done the right thing calling the police and definitely agree with PP about letting the school and college know about it too, especially if they're on their own going to and from school. I really hope they get what's coming to them, nasty bastards.

Thanks all. Good idea about school and college. I work in the NHS and work with a safeguarding team

Just beggars belief. It could be that they have done it to a few people. I hope the company takes it seriously

Any chance they think you raised an opposition and they are mates with the new owner?
Only thing I could think of. Our neighbors 3 doors down had planning applications for an extension, I didn't care as it didn't impact me apart from using our side access. Someone did raise objections to it though and for some reason this neighbour thought it was me and was really quite rude to me. She soon felt a twat when I told her it wasn't. I said though she acted a twat again and she would be asking the neighbors 7 doors down from her to use their side access instead of ours.

People get funny over planning

No, I am the end terraced house, then there are 2 flats and this property that was once a bathroom shop. I don't know of any opposition, but work began long before Covid, and then stopped come to think about it.

It has begun again in the last 2 weeks with different workmen coming and going. You may be on to something there! But still, leave kids out of it! the guy looked really young. 20ish

If so then fry his ass!

If not then photograph the reg and if possible, the culprit - if safe to do so.

Appalling and unhinged behaviour, keep safe and hope the police deal with it quickly.

Is there a general contractor for the conversion work? Their name might appear on any hoarding or notice outside the building. You could contact them to find out who the plasterers are. No need to let on why you want to know.
