I briefly visited the area before but wondering are there any gems I should not miss etc..

Anything near by - happy to drive, maybe NT properties?

Kayaking, paddle boards, RIB trips, tree tops activity course, Chesil beach nature reserve, sailing, fossil hunting organised or not...

Whereisthewarmth · 21/04/2021 12:57

Charmouth for fossil hunting. Seatown beach is also lovely and there is a nice pub right on the beach (Anchor Inn). I can't think of any NT around there. You might go on a ride on the Seaton Tramway, though not sure how exciting that would be (it doesn't really go anywhere particularly interesting!). If you don't mind driving a little, you can do a nice circular walk from Branscombe mouth, up the coast path towards Sidmouth, then circle down past the Fountainhead Pub and then back down through Branscombe. There is a traditional blacksmith's shop and a playground and we often have ice cream when we get back to the car park.

Tree top activity centre is in Charmouth- not far at all.

Whereisthewarmth · 21/04/2021 20:23

Mind, I think I have been to the fountain head pub, I am sure I had some ale pie there that was the most delicious I've ever tasted!

The tree tops looks great as well.

Any other gems, beaches, coves, pubs... Experiences...

Seaton Tramway (obviously in Seaton), is really quaint. Beer is a lovely place with a nice beach, easy to reach from Lyme and it is a dog friendly beach if you have a dog, or like dogs.

Also the Swannery at Abbotsbury is lovely.
