Do girls generally play with vehicles, cars, diggers, trucks ? My son has absolutely millions of various different vehicles and I really need to clear a space in our two bed house. He's outgrown these now, but I don't know whether to save these for my daughter. My DD is 15 months old so still quite young, but very active, walking from early on. So far she's shown absolutely no interest in any of them apart from the buttons for the flashing lights. She doesn't wheel them along like my son used to, he was obsessed by wheels from crawling, but then I can't remember what age he did his main vehicle play this from?

And this isn't can girls play with vehicle, because I know they can, it's just generally do they? Or can I get rid of the majority of them and keep a few. DD's main obsession seems to be our dog which DD has never taken any notice of.

I’m head of early years at my school - currently teaching nursery.
I’d say generally the girls do play with cars (although each year there are some who don’t go anywhere near them) but they don’t play with them as regularly. Again I’m generalising here, but they tend to play with emergency vehicles/ tractors/ diggers more than they do with matchbox style cars. Character cars are also popular- eg vehicular from paw patrol.
The brio train track is universally popular with boys and girls.
My own daughter went through a period of playing with cars at about 20 month but it didn’t last long. She absolutely loves Thomas though and most of the pictures I have of her between about 2 and 3 include her holding a train.

My DD loved playing with cars and personalising them so I think perhaps a different style of play. She wasn't interested unless they had a name and backstory

Lots of the girls at my pre-school love playing with cars and vehicles.

Ohhh yes DD loves the various train sets. Grin I don't know, it doesn't sound like I'm going to clear much space, maybe I can keep one of each thing and give away the others? My DS loved them all, but not anymore.

My DD loves cars. When she was 3 they had tea parties, which still happen but with elaborate Lego sweets and cakes now she's 5...

They also do school, have races and get involved in paw patrol rescues!

Her 2 year old brother rides on anything big enough to support his not insubstantial backside and plays with the smaller cars as well!
