Have you ever done this? Slightly embarrassing.

I was driving earlier with the radio on and a song I like came on. I started singing along and stopped at a red light. Looked over to the car next to me and they were singing it too. We both just looked at each other mouthing the words. I felt so awkward and probably went very red.

Obviously not the most embarrassing thing ever but bad enough for meBlush

You know you’re meant to turn it into a tremendous yawn!

What song was it?

ItsGotABitOfPink · 20/04/2021 15:52

I'll remember that now.

It was Pink/ Keith Urban come take me home.

TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN · 20/04/2021 15:55

No don't 'yawn' if they're singing it too! Just enjoy the fun moment with strangers!

SeaTurtles92 · 20/04/2021 15:59

Ah don't worry about it.
It's funny. I do it all the time, then from the corner of my eye see Hmm face.

It's your car. Have fun Grin.

iamthesandstorm · 20/04/2021 16:00

You should have held a pretend microphone to your mouth. looked them straight in the eye and duetted with them until the lights turned green.

Orgasmagorical · 20/04/2021 16:02

Aw, don't be embarrassed, OP, that was great, I would have loved that Smile

gooseygoosey12345 · 20/04/2021 16:07

That's not embarrassing, I'd have found it quite funny

Incognitool · 20/04/2021 16:11

That's kind of Hollywood musical meet-cute, though. Clearly you should both have styled it out into imaginary microphones, then climbed out and danced on your car roofs, with a traffic jam singing in highly unlikely close harmony behind you.

MedusasBadHairDay · 20/04/2021 16:17

I can top that, years ago I was driving home and singing along to the soundtrack for Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Now if you haven't heard of it, it's a rock musical where the main character had a sex change operation that went wrong leaving them with the aforementioned "angry inch".

I'm at the traffic lights, windows open, singing along quite happily, when I realised a man in a white van next to me was starting at me open mouthed. I realised this just as I sang the line, "where my penis used to be, where my vagina never was."

Luckily at that moment the lights changed to green, so I winked at him and drove off.

😳

ILoveRossGeller · 20/04/2021 16:21

This happened with me and a guy in a white van a few years ago, it was Rhythm Of The Night... we had the best dance off ever!

purrswhileheeats · 20/04/2021 16:25

Any Pink track (especially the duets) justifies a full-on car disco Grin

dragonsmoke · 20/04/2021 16:29

This NEEDS to become a thing !!!! Love it Grin

iwannascream · 20/04/2021 16:33

I was caught out like this during a very hot summers day a couple of years ago, at the traffic lights and hadn't noticed a police car come along side of me. I've got the sun roof open and the windows down and i'm belting out some 80's tune at the top of my lungs, when I heard a horn toot and looked around and the two policewomen gave me a round applause and moved off as the lights had changed.

I was laughing and embarrased all at the same time.

When i'm in my car I forget that other people can see and hear me lol

That's hilarious, you probably made their day 😅

Laura Brannigan's Gloria came on the radio earlier as I was driving home - I sang my heart out Blush

JovialNickname · 21/04/2021 16:31

You should have stepped it up a notch, singing loudly and in earnest, whilst looking him straight in the eye!!

KatyaZamolodchikova · 21/04/2021 16:35

Oh OP, like others I had two blokes in a mobile cherry picker give me a round of applause and shout over that I made their day after my enthusiastic car performance of Shake it Off, and Walking on Sunshine while stuck in 8.00am stationary rush hour traffic! I was a little embarrassed but couldn’t help laughing. It was quite nice to think I’d made someone else smile in a pretty rubbish situation!!

likeamillpond · 21/04/2021 16:41

That happened to me years ago.
It was a hot summer's day and I'd just pulled up to the lights and a man pulled up beside me in a coupe and was singing his heart outo as was I.
It was school pick up time and he was a dad in my d's class.
The children in the back were killing themselves laughing

We were both singing along to

Itchi gitchi ya ya da da
Itchi gitchi ya ya here
Mocha-choca-lata ya ya
Creole lady marmalade
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir?
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi?

Grin
PrelovedWithValue · 21/04/2021 16:48

One too many is a fab song! Nothing to be embarrassed about.

I got seen by a colleague when I was singing along to the Muppets. Now that was embarrassing 🤣

Trinacham · 21/04/2021 17:05

would only find that embarrassing if the other person was looking at me and laughing. If they are singing along too that's nice. Coming from someone who has social anxiety!

PainterInPeril · 22/04/2021 01:20

You see, this is why tinted car windows were invented.....Grin

Milomonster · 22/04/2021 07:47

I love this post! Don’t be embarrassed - I think it’s very cool you were both singing the same song!

ItsGotABitOfPink · 22/04/2021 07:56

Thinking back now, it was funny how we both kept singing even after we spotted each other. At the time I was telling my brain to stop but it wouldn't listen 😂

Anyone remember when Chris Evans used to do a post 5pm show on R2? He regularly played "Delilah" by Tom Jones and invited the nation to sing along.

I was driving home bellowing out the chorus, took a bend and saw a car coming towards me. The other driver was also singing. In the brief time before we passed we both recognised the other was singing Delilah and were able to share a grin and a mutual thumbs up before passing.

For some reason it left me smiling.
