£11 an hour for 2 kids. Both school aged. Needed from 7.30AM and then again for school pick up for a couple of hours. Person is qualified and experienced nanny.

No I think that's about right.

£11 an hour for a qualified and experienced person to take care of your most precious people? No, it’s not too much money.

As a childminder I used to charge £4.50 per child, but that was in my own home with up to 6 other children, so as an hourly rate it could be excellent.

For a nanny totally dedicated to those children alone, it’s a bargain. However are you actually employing her as a nanny with all the financial and admin hassle that involves, or will it be on. Childminder basis, in her home with her invoicing you?

BlossomOnTrees · 20/04/2021 12:25

It's under 12 hours and she has another job so don't have to pay the tax. Yes, in the house
So the consensus seems to be it is not too high?

Split shifts for a person with qualifications and experience? Cleaners get more per hour where I live.

cheeseismydownfall · 20/04/2021 12:33

We pay our cleaner £13 an hour!! Which I am perfectly happy to do.

I can't believe you are asking the question!

katy1213 · 20/04/2021 12:34

You'd pay more for a cleaner.

CommunistLegoBloc · 20/04/2021 12:37

How can you be so tight?!

De88 · 20/04/2021 12:39

You're getting a bargain.

SheldonesqueTheSecondComing · 20/04/2021 12:40

Not quite the same I suppose but it was my equivalent.

I paid more than that years back for someone to do a check on my dog when I was dealing with an emergency at work.

For those most precious to you, I think it more than reasonable. I thought it was for my dog. The lady was trustworthy and I knew she would do what I would do. Lovely walk. Care drying off when they came in. Cuddles. And to wait a wee while after she ate so that my girl could settle down and sleep until I got back.

Worth every penny. Smile

Scbchl · 20/04/2021 12:41

Of course it isn't. What do you mean she has another job so don't have to pay tax?

femfemlicious · 20/04/2021 12:43

£11 for a qualified manny for 2 children is ridiculously cheap!

dotdashdashdash · 20/04/2021 12:43

£1 per child or for the two? Seems like a bargain for a qualified nanny to me!

dotdashdashdash · 20/04/2021 12:44

£11, not £1!

RuggeryBuggery · 20/04/2021 12:44

I’d expect to pay £15ph to be honest

LittleG69 · 20/04/2021 12:47

What do you mean about the tax?

caoraich · 20/04/2021 12:48

I pay my cat sitter more than that for 2 cats when we're away!

Woodlandbelle · 20/04/2021 12:48

That's very very reasonable

womaninatightspot · 20/04/2021 12:54

I pay 10 quid an hour for someone to babysit my kids for a couple of hours once a week. She is unqualified but PVG registered and has lots of kid based experience She brings her youngest who's same age as my kids. I'd have to pay a good bit more for before school care.

11 quid sounds reasonable.

GoryGilmore · 20/04/2021 12:54

That’s a bargain. My friend pays £15 an hour for the same hours and we’re East Midlands.

loveheartss · 20/04/2021 13:02

I think people often vastly underestimate how expensive childcare can be.

Sounds pretty standard where I live OP, infact some people charge that for one child.

TheOneWithTheBigNose · 20/04/2021 13:04

I pay my dog walker more than that.

TulipSandwiches · 20/04/2021 13:07

@TheOneWithTheBigNose

I pay my dog walker more than that.

Me too.

Ilovedthe70s · 20/04/2021 13:10

It’s not enough, my niece is paid £10 a day just to walk her neighbours kids to the village school and back takes 15 minutes each way
