£11 an hour for 2 kids. Both school aged. Needed from 7.30AM and then again for school pick up for a couple of hours. Person is qualified and experienced nanny.

Bargain. I really wouldn’t question it for what you’re getting

edwinbear · 20/04/2021 13:18

I'd snap their hand off - I also pay my cleaner more than that.

Crabwoman · 20/04/2021 13:25

Absolute bargain

Bargain tbh

Ohnomoreno · 20/04/2021 13:36

It's too little. If you're anywhere in the southeast should be £14 for two kids.

Cosmos45 · 20/04/2021 13:37

I pay my cleaner £15 an hour - so it looks like a bargain to me

gingerbiscuit19 · 20/04/2021 13:38

Billy bargain

crazymicrowave123 · 20/04/2021 13:40

cheap as chips, did she come up with that rate or did you offer it? My cleaner charges more than that so youre veryy lucky!

YerAWizardHarry · 20/04/2021 13:41

I get paid the same working at an after school club where I have a team supporting me

HavelockVetinari · 20/04/2021 13:48

That's amazingly cheap - so cheap I'd be wondering whether there was an issue. Does she have references, and an up to date CRB? Is she really a trained nanny?

Nannies usually quote their hourly rate as net - so you would have to pay £11 plus tax, NI and NICS, plus pension. Just because the nanny has a second job doesn't mean you don't need to pay her as an employee unfortunately.

Eviethyme · 20/04/2021 14:44

I'm guessing self employed which means she will pay 20% to tax and some on Nino etc

It's cheap, I would expect to pay anything between 11 and 15 ph

Clymene · 20/04/2021 14:49

I pay my cleaner and my dog walker more.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 20/04/2021 14:51

VEry cheap

Panicmode1 · 20/04/2021 14:51

I used to pay my nanny £14 an hour....over 10 years ago. I'd say that is cheap!

Returnoftheowl · 20/04/2021 16:14

Absolute bargain... especially for 2 children.

Pearbear · 20/04/2021 16:22

Way too cheap for those hours needed. It’s not enough to live on and difficult to find another job to work around those hours. I’m a nanny by the way!

LostInTime · 21/04/2021 14:59

Makes no difference if they've another job - you still have to pay tax, NI, holiday, sickness etc.

MiaMarshmallows · 21/04/2021 21:44

Incorrect. If they earn below a certain amount then you do not need to declare it. Also, you can choose to be taxed in 1 job over the other.

CattingTime · 21/04/2021 21:55

That's dirt cheap!

GlamGiraffe · 21/04/2021 21:58

That is very cheap for a nanny. It is lessthan the going rate for cleaners where i live.

CattingTime · 21/04/2021 22:01

Our cleaner is £14.50ph!
MiaMarshmallows · 21/04/2021 22:02

Surprised at everyone saying how cheap that is. I wouldn't want to pay more than £9-£10 especially if they are school aged and therefore independent and able to do most stuff by themselves (Dressing, snack preparation, independent studying etc).

Bluntness100 · 21/04/2021 22:03

That’s surprisingly low. Wow.

MiaMarshmallows · 22/04/2021 11:58

I wouldn't say surprisingly low!
If that was paid on a regular basis, that wouldn't work out as cheap. Primary school aged kids can go to breakfast club or after school club for around £24 for 2 kids a day. Dont know why someone would pick a nanny when they could have that option and pay for it with something like childcare vouchers.

GoryGilmore · 22/04/2021 13:13

But before/after school clubs don’t suit lots of children and nannies offer a more personal/flexible service for families. That’s why lots of people would hire one.
