Asda price hike re Hand Gel

Not often in Asda but was in one on Sunday to get something for a relative. Did a quick browse and noticed that their own hand gel (50ml) has increased in price from 49p to £1.50. How is this justified when Tesco Boots are still normal price. It's not like they have increased the alcohol content. Boots even did a 3 for 2 so 3 bottles of 50ml cost £1.50 and their alcohol content is 70% unlike Asda at 62%

You put a lot of thought into the pricing of one item at a shop you rarely go to. As you note, there are absolutely loads of other hand gel options, this isn’t Spring 2020 and they can charge what they like. Do you note the price of every item you don’t buy at a shop you don’t go to or is hand gel some sort of special case?
