Morning

We own a little field attached to our garden with 2 elderly sheep who we inherited with the cottage, one only has one eye. We need to replace quite a bit of fencing which my dh will do but only has weekends to do it. So i put a note on our village noticeboard asking if anyone had a small field we could use for a couple of months while we do the work. I received a text on saturday offering an orchard, come and have a look which we did. All i have have to do is put up some strip electric fencing. Anyway, i sent a text yesterday at 9 am to say a friend could transport the sheep on friday if that was acceptable and i would come and set up the fencing to suit them and thanked them again. Since then nothing - text was sent from my iphone and says delivered. Im really puzzled as they seemed really keen at the weekend?

Maybe they're busy, you only sent it yesterday.

PrudenceDictates · 20/04/2021 07:31

Text again. Ask something different this time if you think it seems impatient to repeat the question, and don’t want to piss them off!

It’s not unreasonable to get back in touch when they’ve agreed to offered; they should have responded, even if they’ve changed their mind.

PrudenceDictates · 20/04/2021 07:32

*agreed to something.

Wildswimming3 · 20/04/2021 07:37

My dh said the same, im not very confident and always assume its something ive said or done Shock

That's tricky isn't it, as you don't want to feel like you're pestering them but at the same time you need firm plans.

Perhaps try to call this afternoon if they haven't got back?

Hellocatshome · 20/04/2021 07:46

Call rather than text so you get a definite answer. I wouldnjust call and say "Hi I'm just checking Friday is OK to bring the sheep over as I need to confirm with my friend?"

It is tricky, my dh knows the husband from the pub too. So could all be potentially quite embarassing!

Phone them. Some people only switch their phones on when they want to use it! (Yeah, makes no sense to me either).

Wildswimming3 · 20/04/2021 08:15

@DownWhichOfLate

Yes ill have to. If theyve changed their minds I guess they wont answer anyway!

Just to be aware, any movement of sheep off your farm should be reported via the defra, details here - www.gov.uk/guidance/sheep-and-goat-keepers-how-to-report-animal-movements

Wildswimming3 · 21/04/2021 07:28

Its the same parish so same cph number, no need to report
