Panicking about asbestos. Who do I call?

And should we evacuate the house?

I don’t know if I’m being over worried. Drilling into the ceiling today (1950s house) caused a lot of dust and the hole left looks fibrous.

Child is already asleep upstairs (not the same room) and we also intend to sleep upstairs tonight (again, not the same room, but the same floor).

I don’t know if it’s asbestos or not, but how worried should I be? And is there anyone who can come out as a matter of urgency to check?

Asbestos is very dangerous. I'm not sure who you could call tonight but it might be good to give your local council a call first thing as you need a special licence to remove and safely dispose of it.

Seal off the room and search for a company to do a sample as quickly as possible.

Can you cope without that room I.e can you still access a bathroom without passing through it? If so seal it off as best you can with black bags and tape around any gaps around the door, anyone who was in the room should have a thorough shower then contact someone to come and do a test, possibly your insurance company could do this. We had suspected asbestos in a ceiling that collapsed due to a burst pipe because we couldn't access the bathroom without passing through that room the insurance people put us up in a hotel until it was tested.

Hey I’ve just asked my husband for you he has had some asbestos training, I asked if you needed to leave the house and said you have a child, he said if you can seal the room off gets some plastic bags and tape them
Around the seal of the door to create a barrier that should help you for tonight until you can get a company to test it tomorrow for you , hope this helps

Thank you to everyone who replied. It’s been confirmed it’s not asbestos, thank goodness, but your advice helped me feel more comfortable overnight.
