**Warning - spider photo!** Do these look like false widows?

Hi all,

I discovered loads of baby spiders earlier in a box of toys the kids brought in from the garden a few weeks ago. They've gone straight outside but I'm worried that they might be the bitey kind and that I need to burn the house down and flame thrower the garden .

I've been Googling but not sure. Does anyone have any ideas???

No, they are just the common garden spider. We get loads every year - they will disperse all of a sudden on threads of silk.

They can bite when adult sized though - but only if roughly handled.

@Saisong thank you! I'm not a fan of spiders but this has made me feel so itchy - they all seem to be contained in the box but the marking on the bottom made me worry. So I can put the matches down then?

Yes I agree, they are garden spiders. Don't worry about them; they are the ones with big abdomens that have a cross on them... a kind of orb spider.

So if I just leave them in the tub, they will basically get bigger and just sod off somewhere? (hopefully away from my house!)
