I just can't control my mouth. I tell people something and they use it against me....

I would also like to know this if anyone has any tips.
I'm a chronic oversharer and always regret it.

@faithfulbird20 I have suffered from this in the past. The only way that I found to get around it is to be mindful of what you are about to say, who the person is who you are saying it to and what are the potential ramifications.

Easy right? No unfortunately as it takes practice to make it become the dominant habit (because oversharing is a habit).

My approach was to slow down my thinking in conversations - when talking to someone before I say something consider what it actually is.

This may lead to you talking slower or taking longer to answer someone - but I find a deep breath or a ponder can also produce better conversation.

Also, it's good to remember that conversation is a two way thing. A lot of us think that we listen and then answer - but more often than not we are subconsciously cherry picking what we thought we heard (or said) and just responding - before you know it you've sung like a canary and the colour of your underwear is all around town.
