Favourite things about Spring?

Spring has been my favourite season for a long time now. This year, like many, I am enjoying it even more. What are your favourite things about Spring?

I’ll start....

I love how I can have my bedroom windows on vent at night, waking up to a fresh, unstuffy room.

I love the smell of freshly mown grass.

I love seeing flowers in the hedgerows.

Feel free to share your spring thoughts; nothing like a nice gentle thread for a Sunday afternoon!🌿🌸

Light evenings
Everything starting to grow in the garden
Birds nesting
Lambs in the fields
The promise of summer (my favourite season)

Twospaniels · 18/04/2021 16:37

Sharp frosty mornings with bright cloudless blue sky and sunshine

Lotsachocolateplease · 18/04/2021 16:38

Love spring. It’s my favourite too with the promise of summer so close.
Love the blossom in the trees
The smell of freshly cut grass
Being able to hang washing outside
The lighter evenings

But! I hate not knowing what to wear! I’m either too hot or too cold. Don’t want to wear boots anymore but it’s not warm enough for sandals. Jeans can be too hot but it’s too cold for a skirt or dress without tights!

I love the smell of spring too- I hear you about the clothes @Lotsachocolateplease layers are definitely the way to go! I’ve invested in white trainers this year to combat the cold toes.

So many things:-

Tulips and daffodils - so welcome after the grey winter

Lambs frolicking playfully in the fields

That really intense bright sunlight you get this time of year - makes you glad to be alive also shows up all the cobwebs

Buds and blossoms on the trees

Longer evenings

I love hanging laundry outside again. It becomes possible around the time the hyacinths flower, so the smell of hyacinths always makes me think of clean laundry.

In spring the colours and fragrances are constantly changing.

I'm posting this lying on my back in the middle of the trampoline in our garden, the air feels soft, just beginning to get a touch chilly now the sun is getting lower, I'm surrounded by birdsong and blossom, and I just feel contentedly happy.

Orchidflower1 · 18/04/2021 17:58

@Dilbertian I love the location you’re posting from- fabulous!

Laundry outside - I love it too. I bought the comfort “outdoor” fabric conditioner and it was nice but not a patch on the real “outdoors”.

Watching the birds gathering nesting materials and flying off with beaks full. The feeling of the warm sun on my face. The lovely fragrance of all the spring flowers, especially lilac. Yes, put my first load of washing so far this year out on the line, it smells so much fresher dried outside. So many things. April is a fabulous month!

Baby animals.

Blossom on the trees.

Daffodils, tulips etc all springing up - a pretty garden without much effort.

Bluebells in the wood.

Apple blossom in the nearby apple orchards.

Promise of better weather, longer days etc. Always seems an optimistic time. Winter is over!

DroopyDaff · 18/04/2021 18:12

This is my favourite time of year too. Sunshine and a bit of warmth but it feels fresh without the dustiness and dryness of summer.

Blossoms on the trees. We have white and pink blossoms overhanging the garden at the moment. Like confetti raining down when they drop. Watching the leaf buds start to unfurl.

Buying new bedding plants and planting them. I get quite excited Also the tulips, hyacinths and daffs DH planted last year are out and look so beautiful.

How green the grass is and the smell when it’s cut.

The constant birdsong. We live next to an area of woodland and the birds are going nuts! Lots of squirrels dashing about too.

Lovely going for a bike ride in the sunshine too in cool, fresh air.

Just makes me feel grateful to be alive Grin.

Just makes me feel grateful to be alive grin.

I think that’s the sentiment I share too.

Daffodils
Hyacinths opening up & their scent
Rainy nights
Brighter evenings
A bustling in the air

ememem84 · 19/04/2021 12:53

Sleeping with windows open
Heating off
Windows in the house open
Lighter coats
Daffodils
Tree blossom

And being able to sit outside right now in jeans and a light jumper and just feet. No shoes. No socks. Just feet.

It is glorious here today.

Orchidflower1 · 19/04/2021 17:30

Windows are still open into the early evening in the orchid house and I’ve just brought the washing in; smells amazing! Just clean and fresh from the outside
