Do you tell your young dc in advance that they are going back to school?

My 5yo ds will ask me most days of the school holiday if it's a school day.

However, this holiday he hasn't asked me once. Tomorrow he will be going back and I've just realized I haven't told him. Obviously I will tell him today and hope it doesn't upset him as it's quite sudden.

Do you usually tell your dc in advance?

I used to, in an excited, let's get your stuff ready kind of way.

Yes, but like your ds most days he asks, so he knows he is going back tomorrow. Luckily he enjoys it!

Yes, we work out holiday days in total and sort of talk about it as we go through, or they ask.

Yes, but DC2, who is 6, seems to know. She knew it was a 2 week holiday and somehow seems to know when those 2 weeks will be up. Sometimes she asks to check. However, right now, DC in Reception/ year1 are probably quite unsure because school became unpredictable in lockdown when it closed for long periods. I am not sure that DC2 realises that school is meant to be a regular thing that everyone goes to everyday except pre-arranged weeks of holidays, as it has been so disrupted over the past 13 months.
