Plastic tasting of dishwasher soap

Is this just me? Is something wrong with my dishwasher? I find when eating food from a plastic Tupperware or drinking from a plastic tumbler, I can taste the soap, it’s horrible. No one else in my family seems bothered though. I also get a taste of polystyrene off takeaway containers or drinks so maybe I have weird sensitive tastebuds.

But if you get this too is there anything I can do? I don’t think I can give up the dishwasher!

Yes I have this as well. I now wash all plastic by hand.

Do you use lemon scented tablets? I hand-washed plastics for years before I finally realised that the lemon scent was the problem and switched to regular.
(Be aware that some things may be too contaminated already and not recover despite numerous additional washes.)

Oooh yes hedgehog- this was the kind of help I was looking for. It has been bothering me lately and I don’t remember it being such an issue, and I tend to buy different brands, whatever’s on offer, but have been on lemon for a while. Will try that. Thanks so much. I bought glass Tupperware but that’s not practical for everything.

I stopped washing plastic and even silicone spatulas in the dishwasher as I could taste the soap.
Maybe I'll try switching to regular and see if it makes a difference
