Have you ever had that?

I bought Camembert and it stinks so badly I put it in a bag in a drawer in the fridge and I can smell it upstairs even with the fridge door closed. Is that normal? It’s put me off eating it now!

Camembert can smell quite strongly. I love it but the whole family complain when I've got one in the fridge.

Once got thoroughly told off by the cloakroom lady in a French museum after our camembert stank out her cloakroom. It will taste much better than it smells in.my experience so have it for lunch, right now, with Wine.

Odd question, but did you touch your nose / face after putting it away? There could be scent transfer if you did.

I've got myself some Morbier today. DH hates it because he says it stinks the fridge out but it's too delicious not to buy.

BarbaraofSeville · 17/04/2021 12:26

Give it to me, I can't smell it however bad it is. Pre covid too.

We had one once and if I opened the fridge, DP would come into the kitchen from elsewhere in the house to see what the smell was, but I could have my head in the fridge and not smell it.

Susie477 · 17/04/2021 12:29

Try some Livarot, OP. It’s even smellier, but delicious! Grin

dementedpixie · 17/04/2021 12:30

Put it in a freezer bag in a plastic lidded tub in the fridge. Dh sometimes has really stinky cheese and it's horrible

purplecorkheart · 17/04/2021 12:35

Yes someone gave my parents some at Christmas. You could smell it everywhere in their house. They had to threw it out as it was making them gag.

Sooobored · 17/04/2021 12:36

It’s definitely the cheese as dc are complaining they can smell it too.

This is completely normal. I have now learnt to buy the Camembert on the day I plan on eating/cooking it!

MissMarplesGoddaughter · 17/04/2021 12:38

I thought you were going to say you have some Stinking Bishop in your fridge. That's a cheese and a half!

JosephineBaker · 17/04/2021 12:38

We’ve got an extremely ripe one that’s ponging the house out.
I intend to remedy that this evening, with wine.

Bluntness100 · 17/04/2021 12:38

Yes I put it in a sealed Tupperware dish, it does help. Some of them just stink.
