Can/Do you just get up in the morning and go out?

I can't!
I have to shower/wet my hair as it goes flat overnight; I have to put some make up on (in order not to traumatise small children Grin); I do have to eat something.

So it's usually a minimum of 30 minutes (or longer if I let my hair dry) whereas DH can be up and out in 5 minutes and still look decent.

Emergencies excepted, how long would it take you?

No, I like to take my time and have a brew etc plus makeup
I can be out the door in 7 mins if needed (overslept once for hospital appointment so clothes, teeth, done) Grin
I prefer having an hour

At least 30 minutes. I can’t go out without some sort of wash, even if it’s just a splash at the basin.

Yogatomorrow · 17/04/2021 10:08

I used to be like that, then got a job that involved a 5.30 start. I can do 15 minutes from bed to out the door.

Muitolegal · 17/04/2021 10:09

30 mins minimum

dudsville · 17/04/2021 10:12

I like 30 minutes. In that time I can do all the things I need to do to feel good and presentable without being overly rushed. But I only have to do my hair once every 5 days or so and don't really touch it in between so that helps. This 30 min doesn't include eating as that's not something I like to do upon waking, and it doesn't include coffee/tea as I enjoy this so much I don't like it to be rushed. I worry now that I've worked from home for so long, and in that time have become more creative with clothes, that I might now need longer just for getting dressed!

DoTheNextRightThing · 17/04/2021 10:17

Theoretically yes. In practice, I need breakfast. But one time I did sleep in and miraculously made it out in 15 mins even with breakfast. Wouldn't like to make a habit of it, haha.

Maltesercake · 17/04/2021 10:18

I can go from fast asleep to out the front door on the way to work in 14 minutes (timed precisely for the train). I shower in the evenings, my hair just goes in a ponytail every day and I don’t wear make up. Easy.

EventuallyDistracted · 17/04/2021 10:18

If I plan ahead and shower the night before 10 mins easily. Toilet, contact lenses, teeth, dress, moisturiser, brush hair, shoes. I can skip contact lenses and chuck my hair in a bun if I need to be even quicker.

DinosaurDiana · 17/04/2021 10:19

I’m up at least an hour early to do breakfast, packed lunch and shower/make up.

AgnesNaismith · 17/04/2021 10:21

If I weren’t so lazy it would be 10 mins max. Quick shower, clothes and some tinted moisturiser.

But I am lazy, so it’s tv on, coffee in bed, mess around on my phone and get up 10 mins before I have to be out of the house.

Capodimonte · 17/04/2021 10:24

I can be up and out in about 10 minutes. I choose to have about an hour and a half though. I prefer to have a cup of tea or coffee and relax a bit in the morning. It's not the actual getting ready that takes me long, I'm ready in about 15/20 minutes. I just like to listen to a bit of music and feel that I'm not rushing out the door.

Noooooogsh · 17/04/2021 10:43

If I oversleep I can be out in less than ten minutes with a quick wash, clothes and makeup. Usually it takes me about half an hour.

But my biggest issue is just getting out of bloody bed, am ridiculously lazy

JimBobNoJob · 17/04/2021 11:08

No for starters I can’t physically function straight out of bed. If I do oversleep and have to get ready straight away I feel nauseous, light headed and my brain just doesn’t work. I feel like I’m drunk and hungover at the same time!!!

And two, I will not go out without some form of make up. If I need to be somewhere where I’ll be out for a while in public, then can manage getting dressed make up and hair in about 20 minutes. If it’s just taking Dd to work or something will just Chuck on a hoody over pjs brush hair and a bit of eyeliner. Then do it properly when I come home.

I always make sure I’m up two hours before leaving the house, that way I can wake properly.

Floralnomad · 17/04/2021 11:10

I could be out in however long it takes to clean my teeth , wash my face, get dressed and take my numerous pills so about 10 minutes . I don’t wear make up and hair does it’s own thing .

SpinningBob · 17/04/2021 11:11

My preferred time is 2 - 2.5 hours-I have a full pot of coffee while the kids eat their breakfast and I feed the baby, while husband showers and gets dressed, then he takes the baby while U help the older two get ready and I have my shower and get dressed. I also like the house to be lovely to come home to so I always make all the beds, usually a quick hoover, washing on,kitchen tidied. I am a morning person Grin I don’t think I have just got up and out of the house since before child 1 was born!

MrsWombat · 17/04/2021 11:16

I used to do that 20 years ago when I started work at 6am. It helped that I could drink coffee at work and had a canteen breakfast at 9am. Not sure I could do that now. Maybe once the kids have left home I could get back into that routine.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 17/04/2021 11:22

I could; I choose not to.

I always shower in the mornings if I wake up at home (not confessing to a party lifestyle there! I do sleep in on call nights at work in a healthcare support setting). I never wear male up, ever.

At work I can be out of bed and responding to an emergency in half a minute (sleep in "leisure wear" type things) and up in the morning in a non urgent way and starting the early shift within about ten minutes (get dressed and go to the staff bathroom to wash and brush teeth, although sometimes I do get up an extra ten minutes earlier shower there I don't like to because I'm in sole charge overnight til 7am and it's typical for the night to be quiet but something to kick off if I dare get in the shower).

At home I like 30 minutes in the bathroom (including dressing - have teens so dress in the bathroom) and another 15 drinking coffee before I leave the house.

MargaretThursday · 17/04/2021 12:33

If necessary, 5 minutes.

I hate getting up in the morning so I've perfected the drop out of bed into clothes and out technique. One of my dc's the same, the other is like dh and needs 30 minutes of not quite getting up and lying in bed, followed by 10 minutes in the toilet, and a long time dressing followed by breakfast.

peak2021 · 17/04/2021 12:35

I could do it in about fifteen minutes but in the days before wfh used to allow an hour.

Flappityflippers1 · 17/04/2021 12:38

10 minutes from asleep to out the door including a shower (admittedly the worlds fastest shower!) that’s not eating breakfast though, and chucking clothes on and scraping wet hair into a ponytail.

I like an hour to include a nice breakfast and cup of coffee.

I reality, it takes me 15 hours to get out the house atm though as I have a newborn and toddler (WHY does everything take so frigging long?!?!)

Twistered · 17/04/2021 12:41

I could be out in 10 minutes if needed but I like to take my time. Check the headlines, have a coffee in the garden, feed dogs, hang clothes on the line, shower, make beds, do a general tidy and do the dishes. So about an hour and a half. I'm lucky I don't have a very early start and I love mornings

SnargaluffPod · 17/04/2021 12:42

Five minutes. Brush teeth, pull on clothes, hair unbrushed in messy bun.

Twistered · 17/04/2021 12:43

15 hours ... I remember those days well Grin

freckles20 · 17/04/2021 12:45

I can shower (but not wash hair), clean teeth and be dressed and in my car in 8 minutes. Four minutes if I don't have a shower (but I always do if time).

I work outdoors so my dress code is casual and practical.
