Can/Do you just get up in the morning and go out?

I can't!
I have to shower/wet my hair as it goes flat overnight; I have to put some make up on (in order not to traumatise small children Grin); I do have to eat something.

So it's usually a minimum of 30 minutes (or longer if I let my hair dry) whereas DH can be up and out in 5 minutes and still look decent.

Emergencies excepted, how long would it take you?

You could go out with flat hair and traumatise people Grin.
I prefer at least an hour and a half to drink coffee and eat toast

Flappityflippers1 · 17/04/2021 12:55

@Twistered when does it get quicker?! Everything is taking so damn long - it took me 1.5 hours to make a basic Victoria sponge yesterday 😳

Twistered · 17/04/2021 12:57

You made a Victoria sponge in 1.5 hrs with a baby and a toddler underfoot .... That's an achievement!

amylou8 · 17/04/2021 13:00

Under 15 mins. Wee, make coffee and put toast on, feed cats, clothes on, quick makeup and hair tidy, out the door with toast in hand.

Iheartmysmart · 17/04/2021 13:00

I can be out the door to walk the dog about 5 minutes after getting up, quick bathroom visit and get dressed, but I wear a hat and scarf at the moment which hide a multitude of sins. To actually leave the house and not scare people would probably take about 30 minutes.

Megan2018 · 17/04/2021 13:02

I often go out first to do the horse - just pull clothes on, brush teeth, loo and go. So probably 5 mins max .

joystir59 · 17/04/2021 13:05

Five to ten mins. Clothes on, poo bags, treats, water and water dish, specs phone wallet in.ruck sack, harness and lead on dog. Out.

GintyMcGinty · 17/04/2021 13:09

Depends on whether my hair looks greasy or not.

If not then a quick wash, teeth brush and dress and yes I can go out. I don't wear make up so none of that faff.

If my hair needs washed then I need another 20 mins (for a quick shower and to dry and straighten my hair).

spiderlight · 17/04/2021 13:12

If it was just be, I could be out in 45 minutes at a push. I have to have a shower and wash my hair, but it mostly dries by itself while I'm having breakfast and just needs a quick blast with the dryer at the end. in the real world, though, I would also have to see to the dog and DS, which would add at least another half-hour.

itsgettingwierd · 17/04/2021 13:14

I can't either.

On a normal morning we are up at 7am (ds and I) and we leave at 8.15am.

On a swimming day we are up at 4 or 5 am and leave at 4/5.40.

I like to have a coffee, breakfast, read the news - just generally start the day relaxed!

Mydogisagentleman · 17/04/2021 13:16

Generally approaching an hour.
Up at5.30, shower, downstairs for coffee and cigs, walk the dog, watch the news, out of the door at 6.25

ElsasFrozenVerucca · 17/04/2021 13:17

I take an hour. 2 hours with the DC, 2.5 hours with the DC and not totally frazzled and looking like Worzel Gummidge

Crunchymum · 17/04/2021 13:19

I could (and occasionally do - 23rd December I was up at 6.45am and queuing for my turkey at 7am) but having 3 kids means it takes a while to get out of the house. I have it down to a tee but it still involves me being up a good 1.5 hours before we need to leave.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 17/04/2021 13:19

30 minutes - I need a tea, then a shower then a coffee and a bare minimum of makeup.

Why are you up at 4am for swimming? Shock
SweetPetrichor · 17/04/2021 13:20

I can get out in 10 minutes on a typical work day (before working from home started!)
Up, brush teeth, wash face, dress, grab bag and go. But I do prep in advance - I set out clothes and shower at night. And I have no hair and don’t wear makeup, so there’s not much to do in the getting ready process.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 17/04/2021 13:20

It takes me at least five minutes to realise where I am and then another five to mimic Arthur Dent's primal scream. Then I have to unglue my eyelids in the shower. Then a coffee. It takes 40 minutes approx.

RosesAndHellebores · 17/04/2021 13:26

In my 20s I could get up at 6.30am, shower, quickly blow-dry hair, dress, put on make-up and be out before 7am.

Since hitting my 50s I need a mug of tea and something to eat and to MNet 6am to about 6.45 during which time I unload the dishwasher, wipe the kitchen counters and sink and bung a wash on, then shower, hair, make-up and am ready by 7.30ish.

AintPageantMaterial · 17/04/2021 13:46

It takes me 10 minutes to get dressed because these days I have to liberally coat myself in HRT gel and sit around in my underwear waiting for it to dry before I can put clothes on top.

LudoBear · 17/04/2021 14:04

I shower at night and my hair is extremely short, doesn't even need combing. I don't wear make up. I can be up and out in 10 mins but would need to have food quite soon after getting up as diabetic. If I've got to be somewhere early I'll make sure I've got something in I can eat on the way like a croissant or something.

CorianderBee · 17/04/2021 18:30

Wash my face, brush my hair and teeth, loo, coffee and get dressed. Then I can just go out. I shower at night and rarely wear makeup. I just cba tbh.

spikyplants2021 · 17/04/2021 18:32

7 mins, including shower and dressing, not make up, that would be 9 mins, breakfast, maybe 13 mins. Years of catching the am train!

JeanClaudeVanDammit · 17/04/2021 18:33

I can do it in 15 minutes (don’t wash hair in the morning but do have to put on some makeup, and wash etc obviously) but I would feel rushed and crap. I usually allow myself 30 minutes before DC get up so I can get myself ready before that.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 17/04/2021 18:36

I need an hour to become fully conscious, watch the news in bed, drink 2 coffees then half an hour for getting ready.

RuthW · 17/04/2021 18:41

I allow 90 mins. I could do it in about 50 mins if I tried. I'm not for rushing in the morning.
