Reasonably sized dinner sets

SilkyMoonfaceandTheSaucepanMan · 17/04/2021 09:21

Do they exist anymore? I want to find a set that will be at least 6 place setting, not have extra high sides, max of 26cm. Oh, and plain white in order to mix and match.

I've really searched the internet wide and far.
Every set is either for 4, huge size plates, rims that are too high.

I just want a lovely plain dinner set.
Does anyone know of such a thing?

Does it necessarily have to be a set? Can’t you buy 6x individual crockery? www.cooksmill.co.uk/crockery/pure-white.html

We ended up with square ones from IKEA. Bought 2 sets

Are you anywhere near a Boundary Outlet? They do hotel ranges, usually white, for about £1 a piece. Only problem is it's a bit hit and miss, you can't always get e.g 6 of everything you want.

I buy ours from either sainsbury, Asia or M&S. Always when they have a homeware sale. You can pick exactly what you need then

C0nn1e · 17/04/2021 10:42

I have never been anywhere near Asia, I meant Asda

coronafiona · 17/04/2021 15:36

I bought Denby Azure after much searching! Dinner plates are just right. Side plates but small so went for the middle sized for side plates instead.

TheFairyCaravan · 17/04/2021 15:40

We have these from Dunelm. I like the fact that you can buy it all individually so if one gets chipped or broken it’s easy to replace them.

LemonRoses · 17/04/2021 15:49

Don’t buy a set as such go to somewhere like Villeroy and Boch or Portmeirion and order the combination you want.

Dunairbeanat · 17/04/2021 15:59

Try Wayfarer, I bought two sets of four but price was very reasonable. I think the brand was Sabichi

Dunairbeanat · 17/04/2021 16:00

Sorry Wayfair, stupid autocorrect

SilkyMoonfaceandTheSaucepanMan · 17/04/2021 16:01

Ah, lots of choices already Smile

'I don't have a Boundary Outlet nearby. Shame, as it looks good.

I should have perhaps been more careful with my OP. I really meant a reasonable size plate. They all seem huge, and I want just a normal dinner / sandwich plate. Can't seem to find any that are like that, in a nice set etc .
It doesn't have to be a set, am happy to get odd pieces.

I often but two lots of four then I’m sorted if anything breaks.

treeeeemendous · 17/04/2021 16:20

Have a look at dunelm. You can buy in sets or individual. They have plates with a larger rim so a smaller middle section

Dunairbeanat · 17/04/2021 17:03

Try EBay, there is a huge selection from basic to expensive.
Use the filters to choose diameter, shape etc.

Same here.

I've got a couple old old plates from my student days and the rims are the same diameter as the dinner plate, and the inner rim the same as the side plate.

We bought ours loose at a factory shop so bought exactly what we needed (plus seconds too)

They don't meet the plain white criteria but the main inside other than rims are white and it's a long-standing range to mix anf match.

Durable too. Our set is over 10 years old, and despite dyspraxia in the family there's been no breakages and only a couple of minor chips.

colouringindoors · 17/04/2021 23:10

ikwym OP. Most sets have massive plates. Apparently plate sizes have increased by up to 20% in last 25 yrs. Portion size challenge!

I've had my eye on these for a while.
