Facebook Portal?

Has anyone got or tried a Facebook portal? My parents live overseas and I was wondering if it would be a better video call experience for them/toddler DS than just using FaceTime/WhatsApp video calling/Zoom? Or is it just a gimmick?

Obviously if it's worth it both us and my parents will get one (one thing I've gleaned is that all parties need one)

Any experience welcome, I can't work it out from looking at them online!

We have a large portal and my dh uses it for work and for video calls to his parents.
It’s very good. Follows you round the room.
He bought his parents the smaller one during lockdown so we have the same systems.
He is a complete technophobe and he can work it.

Thanks @whippitwoowoo my parents (my dad) are pretty technically able but looking like it'll be another couple of years of a video relationship for them and DS so trying to work out the best possible thing!
