Shark Anti Hair Wrap, is it really useless?

We really need a new hoover and that one off £500 landed in our account today so we're going to use some of it to buy a new one. We've gone with Vax for years but I quite fancy a Shark this time. A lot of them have that Anti Hair Wrap thing and it gets a lot of poor reviews 😕 is it really that bad? Can you remove the brush bar in a Shark to clean it out? You can in Vax ones, you just undo a couple of screws and slide the brush right out, it's great! Both me and DD have long hair and I shed like a Labrador, I have to clean out the brush bar regularly because of all the hair.

Try out a Shark or stick with Vax?

My shark is the biggest waste of money and time I’ve ever had.
I’ve tried and failed to get a refund from the company it’s that bad!

The motor burnt out within 6 months of mild use (we have a henry for dog or mud heavy areas so it mainly does the rug and a few upstairs carpets)
The thing tangles at every opportunity. I don’t know how it dares say it’s anti hair wrap as everything wraps around it then it gives up the ghost.
If you get past the hair wrap, whatever you’ve sucked up will get stuck in one of the various filters and again it will stop working. I end up taking mine apart after almost every use and washing each part for it to work again.
It works for about 2 uses and then needs the whole thing taking apart for cleaning otherwise it won’t suck up a thing Confused

Save your money!

Wow had mine for a year, fantastic. I wonder if they have changed factories/manufacturers. My vax was good the shark better. Maybe stick to vax.

We have a shark and I love it! I've had a few brands of hoovers but this one has by far been my favourite, we've had it for 4 years now. I do have long hair and do sometimes need to clean the hair out if it gets tangled but it's easy to do, the wee brush bit just pops out and you can clean it and stick it back in again

We've got a Shark but not the anti hair bar one. I've always been very enthusiastic about how easy it is to keep clean with the washable filters etc, but it's a bugger for toppling over and it's also wrecked our Axminster carpet. We're having to replace it and it's only 5 years old.

I hate Dysons for the filter issues so I'm seriously considering a Sebo or Miele cleaner next.

I second Leonberger - absolute waste of money

NewYearNewTwatName · 16/04/2021 21:05

waste of money, I loved it when I first got it, then it all went down hill fast.

stick to a vax

needagirlsnight · 16/04/2021 21:12

Don't waste your money

They're great for the first 6ish months, then go downhill. Customer service wash their hands of you, they actually told me I was overusing mine and that twice a day is too much! Apparently the battery depreciates after about two years of once a week use so me using mine twice a day sped that up! I sold mine on Facebook and got a Vax

Myexisadick · 16/04/2021 21:16

I had an issue with mine (smelt like burning) after 12 months of use. They replaced it without question and I’ve been using this new one for about a year with no issues. Anti hair wrap works very well (we both have very long hair in this house)

SeaTurtles92 · 16/04/2021 21:17

We have this one in rose gold and I love it.
Best hoover we have had. Very powerful and works great on carpet and hard floors.

Shark Anti Hair Wrap, is it really useless?
Papadontpreachimintroubledeep · 17/04/2021 13:17

Oh please don't say that. I just bought one yesterday!

ChequerBoard · 17/04/2021 13:19

Love ours, we now have 2 of the anti-hair wraps (one upstairs and one down) and one of the older models (that was our original Shark purchase) which is over in the guest suite.

Sn0tnose · 17/04/2021 13:22

It’s better than a Dyson but only just. I’ll be replacing it with a Henry when this one dies.

Contactlesslenses · 17/04/2021 13:23

Hate my Shark. As previous poster says, it blocks literally every time I use it, and takes an age to unblock because of all the different parts. Really bad.

Russell19 · 17/04/2021 13:27

I have the anti hair wrap shark and it's great to stop my husband moaning about having to cut my her out of the hoover like he did with our old one 🙈🤣

Gingerkittykat · 17/04/2021 13:32

I've got a cordless Shark and the anti hair wrap is brilliant. I have alopecia so my hair falls out and also have a ragdoll cat who sheds constantly and it copes brilliantly with that, the cylinder looks like it contains half a ragdoll every time I use it! I bought it to stop me dragging my big hoover out constantly but now use it constantly and will probably upgrade to a big Shark at some point.

WorraLiberty · 17/04/2021 13:36

I bought this last week (Agos £200) and it's great so far.
UseYourIllusion · 17/04/2021 13:39

I have a top of the range Meile. It lives unused in a cupboard. The Shark knocks spots off it for me, and yes, the hair wrap works. I have waist length hair that gets everywhere and it doesn't wrap.

MadisonAvenue · 17/04/2021 13:39

I’ve had mine just over a year and it’s brilliant, best vacuum I’ve ever had. The anti hair wrap works brilliantly with my long hair. The Dyson Animal I’d previously been using was awful with hair, it was forever tangling around the brushes which stopped them from rotating but I’ve not had any problems with the Shark.

Disneymum1993 · 17/04/2021 13:42

I have an anti
Hair wrap one and the true pet and they are rubbish get clogged quickly have to unwrap the hair of the anti hair wrap one so
I have got a sebo upright was a bit more pricey but I love it, only thing sharks good for it's the lift away for the stairs

wheresmyliveship · 17/04/2021 13:55

Get a Miele

DancesWithDaffodils · 17/04/2021 14:08

Love my corded shark. It is heavy tho.
Upgrade the dust box size if you can. Ours needs emptying between doing the downstairs and upstairs.

GoWalkabout · 17/04/2021 14:21

So why does it work great for some people and not for others??? I have a shark lift away and have to cut the hair off weekly/every use. Would love the anti hair wrap if it works!

UseYourIllusion · 17/04/2021 15:16

@wheresmyliveship

Get a Miele
I did. A £300 CX1 Blizzard. As I said above it lives in a cupboard in favour of the shark. Shark wins hands down for me.
PerfectPenquins · 17/04/2021 15:21

Initially it was great but the anti hair wrap is a bit of a con, constantly cutting hair off it. Looking elsewhere for the next one.
