New York with a young teen

I have booked for myself, my mum, my sister and my niece to go to New York next October for my mums birthday. Niece will be 13 then. I was wondering what sort of things she may enjoy that I wouldn't necessarily think of?

I've been before many years ago, but the others haven't and much of what we do will be dictated by the birthday girl but I wanted some ideas.

MoMath is a cool museum momath.org/explore/exhibits/ My dc especially like the robots and polypaint.

Is there any TV programmes/films/books set in New York that she likes? You could visit the places they are set in. On Google Earth the map of Manhattan has the buildings that were used as the outside shots for various TV shows (ie building that's meant to be where Monica's apartment in Friends is) highlighted on it.
If I ever went to New York I've always fancied going to Coney Island.
