If you wear glasses do they rest on your cheeks?

I’ve got new glasses, they’re slightly deeper than my old ones and are resting on my cheeks and annoying me a bit. Will I just get used to this?

Mine don’t, that would drive me mad.

Is it the size of them or could you position them further up your nose? If they have an adjustable nose bridge (two little pads on a stalk) then it will be easier to do.

I don't think they should do this if they fit correctly?

CovidCorvid · 15/04/2021 17:03

No nose pads. So they can’t go further up. I’ve had them thinned as much as possible but with a -10 prescription I think they are still probably heavier than most and slip down.

They’re only 4cm from top to bottom so not huge. But think my last ones were 3.5 cm. looks like I need to go back to thin, oval/rectangle ones which don’t suit me. 🤷‍♀️

Are the arms correctly fitted over your ears ? To do this the dispensing optician would have had you put the spx on and then measured from the fitting joining the arm to the frame front, they would then have noted the measurements and gone to the little heating up machine, heated the arms and bent them to the exact measurements so that they fit on your face correctly and do not fall forward when you bend your head forward. If they have not done this go back and have this procedure done. Do not try to bend them at home. Spx arms come in standard lengths and bends so each frame needs fitting individually. Glasses should not sit on your cheeks, they are either incorrectly fitted, or the frame is too big for your face. Your RX is really only suited to smaller frames. Good Luck.

No, maybe I have a big nose but no matter how far they slide down my nose, they won’t touch my cheeks, and they’re quite big glasses too. Sounds annoying!

CovidCorvid · 15/04/2021 17:29

Thanks. They didn’t measure when I put my glasses on but looked and did take them away to the machine and adjust them twice. I’ll go back.

I had this happen once before a few years ago and ended up having to change frames as they couldn’t adjust them enough. Wasn’t sure if I’m being too fussy but sounds like I’m not.

No - they shouldn't do that. Definitely get them re-fitted.

Trinacham · 15/04/2021 17:46

No, mine don't

lljkk · 15/04/2021 18:01

Mine are well off the cheeks
Proper spectacles (not QD readers) are so expensive -- don't settle for uncomfortable fit

DrunkenKoala · 15/04/2021 18:14

Mine don’t either

TeenMinusTests · 15/04/2021 18:31

No for myself, DH, and DD.
