Are hairdressers still meant to be wearing masks?

Just popped into the hairdressers to have a patch test before my appointment tomorrow and noticed half the staff weren’t wearing masks. Is this allowed now or are they possibly exempt?

I’m not particularly concerned about catching it but I’m not sure how I feel about someone being so close to me without one for the 3 hours it takes to put in my highlights, cut and blow dry my hair.

Everyone should still be wearing masks (apart from the legitimate exemptions).

I will continue to wear one in certain situations even if the requirement is withdrawn. I don’t think I would want to use a hairdresser without one.

I stopping going to my hairdresser because she wasn’t wearing a mask, only a visor and said no one needed to wear a mask in the salon. I wore mine but felt fairly unsafe so I didn’t go back. I will at some point.

When I went earlier this week all the staff at my hairdressers were wearing masks. A couple were also wearing a visor. Exactly the same as it was pre lockdown 3.

Oohhh this is so annoying! I’ve had this appointment booked for month and my roots are down to my ears so really needs doing! But it also feels like a pointless risk for the sake of my vanity

My hairdresser didn't realise she was supposed to be wearing a mask, she had misread the guidelines and thought a visor was enough. She was wrong then (before the recent lockdown was lifted) so yours might be the same. Unless they have changed the rules, so I would look it up. I wasn't going to go back if she wasn't going to be wearing a mask. I'm only having cuts, don't want to be in there for as long as my highlights take to do. They're all but gone now, hardly recognise myself in the mirror LOL!
