I like Phil and Holly but I do not like Alison and Dermot, I would much rather have Eamonn and Ruth! I don’t know why, but I feel I can just build a rapport with them. I can’t do that with A&D.

OP posts:
Spied · 14/04/2021 17:28

Agreed

SheldonesqueHasGotTheWeevils · 14/04/2021 17:33

Agreed.

The grin twins can do one.

The guffaw bletherers can too. Although I do think D would be fine with someone else.

Ruth and Eamonn are the bollocks.

AnSionnachGlic · 14/04/2021 17:38

I totally agree. I watched it last week when Eamon and Ruth were on but have no interest this week. I've nothing against Dermot and Alison but feel ' more at home' with E&R and I love the teasing/banter between them. Even my 19 yr old daughter happened to be around last week and said that she loved watching Eamon and Ruth because they remind her of her mum and aunties!!! ( I'm way younger btw😊)

Roselilly36 · 14/04/2021 17:44

I agree I prefer E & R too. I like AH in small doses and Dermot, but they don’t really gel together. I can’t believe the powers that be at TM changed the formula that had worked so well. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Lampzade · 14/04/2021 19:32

Have to agree . I only watch TM when Eamon and Ruth are on. I know that Eamon can be a pain in the neck and I don’t always agree with him, but I would take Eamon and Ruth over Phil and Holly.
Alison and Dermot are not working unfortunately .
Alison is great at interviewing celebs and she is fine as a stand in for the odd programme , but not as a main host.
Dermot is just unbelievably dull
Eamon and Ruth make me feel relaxed

MissyB1 · 14/04/2021 19:34

Can’t stand Phil and Holly. Dermot and Alison are a mismatch unfortunately, they just don’t suit each other.
I can only watch when Eamonn and Ruth are on.

Lampzade · 14/04/2021 19:35

Eamonn

Sparklingbrook · 14/04/2021 19:35

Sorry, it's a no from me. Eamonn always looks bored and I'm always waiting for him to say something cringey or Hmm.

Haven't seen much of Dermot and Alison. I think the whole programme needs a huge overhaul to be honest.

MaMaD1990 · 14/04/2021 19:36

I cannot stand Eammon and Ruth! Sooo annoying! Holly is great, Philip is, well, Philip - not a huge fan of the programme at all really.

MaMaD1990 · 14/04/2021 19:37

Eamonn rather

Chicchicchicchiclana · 14/04/2021 19:40

These two are a totally mis-matched concoction from the minds of the producers, much like Simon Mayo and Jo Whiley on that ill-fated R2 show.

CoffeandPancakes · 14/04/2021 19:44

Completely agree.

It's actually quite embarrassing. Alison in particular, just isn't cut out for that level of presenting. She gets everyone's name wrong, really struggles to read the autocue and just keeps repeating "that's so interesting" regardless of what they're talking about and you can tell she very much doesn't find it "so interesting". When talking to their Royal Correspondent about Prince Philip's death, she opened the interview with "So Camilla, did you know this was gonna happen?!" Confused

I think she's just trying so hard to act professional, but she's so far out if her comfort zone, it's quite painful.

CoffeandPancakes · 14/04/2021 19:45

*of her

SpringItIsThen · 14/04/2021 21:02

Haven't watched TM in a while and liked Eamon and Ruth - thought Eamon was a bit nasty especially to Ruth but since Ruth came out and defended him, saying it's how they are, I kept my nose out of it. So, they're great besides that.

I really like Alison - don't know how she is on TM but she doesn't strike me as a serious-host type of person. She's more the entertainment, jolly, games host sort from what I've seen of her.

Dermot - Meh. Can take him or leave him.

Never really cared for Phillip and Holly - a bit too much 'scripted' reactions while their real opinions are so obviously hidden/not well-hidden as it shows on their faces.

weewitch · 15/04/2021 00:05

I agree Op.

Woodlandbelle · 15/04/2021 00:09

It's gone downhill though of all I dolove Alison and I love Ruth but Eamonn isn't really ito a lot of the topics (you can totally tell he is very old fashioned and Ruth does everything and he moans a lot)

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 15/04/2021 00:11

Alison is lovely. Im not sure on her presenting skills though.

ShitStormInATeacup · 15/04/2021 00:14

I'm with you OP. I much prefer watching when Eammon and Ruth are presenting.

Quaagars · 15/04/2021 00:36

Aw, I love Alison!
She comes across as so genuine and nice.
Think she's doing a great job personally

ThreeorFour · 15/04/2021 00:43

I like Eamon and Ruth, don't mind Alison and Dermot, dislike Phil and Holly. I'd replace P&H with A&R.

SophieGiroux · 15/04/2021 00:54

Definitely ditch Phil and Holly! Not watched it for a long time as find them so smug but I did used to like Alison when she did her little segments.

artquejtion · 15/04/2021 06:26

Absolutely, totally agree with you. I can't watch D & A, they are boring, awful, I have switched off !

FAQs · 15/04/2021 06:34

Agree, I like the Rochelle and Marvin over these two.

Sceptre86 · 15/04/2021 09:07

I think Allison has improved a lot and has a friendly, bubbly persona, having said that I don't like her pairing with Dermot. Eamonn is superior in his presenting style but he is such an arse to Ruth and is quite rude to guests sometimes. The grin twins are so in love with themselves it is hard to watch.

CoffeandPancakes · 15/04/2021 09:25

@Sceptre86, I did think she's improved, but not so sure now. I just don't think she has the professionalism. It all feels like kids pretending to be TV presenters.

You can almost hear the directors telling her to be herself, but not too much. Yes, do 'the laugh' Alison, do the random, enthusiastic dance Alison, as we go into the break, because that's the Alison everyone loves. But next we have a very serious phone in/discussion coming up, so I want you to reign that right in- be serious, look sincere and remember, if you're not sure what to say, use the emergency "that's so interesting" line.

I actually feel quite sorry for her. She just shouldn't have been given the job and I suspect she knows that really.
