I know we don’t know them personally so it’s not the same, but for me it’s Jeremy Hardy. The News Quiz just isn’t the same without him.

OP posts:
EssexLioness · 13/04/2021 23:03

Terry Wogan
Robin Williams

RampantIvy · 13/04/2021 23:06

I loved Jeremy Hardy.
Another vote for Terry Wogan
Victoria Wood

Malteser71 · 13/04/2021 23:11

Came in to say Wogan and Victoria Wood

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 13/04/2021 23:16

Yes definitely Victoria Wood, a true national treasure

And why do they even bother airing Eurovision without Terry Wogan?

Cilla Black on all those celebrity game shows as a guest

2ManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 13/04/2021 23:20

Rik Mayall and Caroline Aherne, both comic geniuses

1hamwich4 · 14/04/2021 03:36

John Peel on a Saturday morning

custardbear · 14/04/2021 03:54

Kenny Everett
Terry Wogan and Victoria wood too

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 14/04/2021 04:01

Paul Ritter. If they make anymore series of Friday night dinner, it just won't be the same.

BlackCatShadow · 14/04/2021 04:03

Anthony Bourdain. He was just such a cool guy and so passionate about food. His death utterly shocked me.

Fiercestcalm · 14/04/2021 04:07

Robert Hardy ( such gravitas versatile actor)
Richard Harris as Dumbledore, for me, he was the true embodiment of what I had imagined

lilyfire · 14/04/2021 04:16

Yes, Jeremy Hardy from the News Quiz and Linda Smith

ilovesooty · 14/04/2021 04:19

@2ManyDicksOnTheDancefloor couldn't agree more.

altlife · 14/04/2021 04:40

Bruce Forsyth.

Saturday night tv just isn't the same!

HeadLikeAFuckinOrange · 14/04/2021 05:05

Another vote for Rik Mayall Sad

PhilCornwall1 · 14/04/2021 06:00

@custardbear

Kenny Everett Terry Wogan and Victoria wood too
Definitely Kenny Everett, although could you imagine the uproar if he was on now? Cupid Stunt would not go down well!!
PrincessGraceless · 14/04/2021 06:10

Terry Wogan. Such a loss. Still use some of his sayings - younger people in particular look at me as if I’m mad and of course I then say - “As Terry Wogan used to say.” And they give me an even stranger look!

Sammysquiz · 14/04/2021 06:52

I still miss Terry’s show on Radio 2!

iamthesandstorm · 14/04/2021 06:53

Roger Scott..was a brilliant DJ. .I was so sad when he died.

RampantIvy · 14/04/2021 06:54

@Sammysquiz

I still miss Terry’s show on Radio 2!
So do I. The Janet and John stories were hilarious.
peak2021 · 14/04/2021 07:05

@Iminaglasscaseofemotion have to agree about FND unless there was a one-off for the character's funeral.

Agree about Terry Wogan. The other is that I think Countdown should have ended when Richard Whiteley died, or at the latest when Carol Vorderman left.

OccultGnuAsWell · 14/04/2021 07:10

The Janet and John stories were hilarious.

I used to listen to R2 on the way to work back in the day. I swear I was unfit to drive through laughter when Janet and John went to the garden centre.

"I asked her if she'd like some Old Man's Beard in her Bush".

Filth.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 14/04/2021 07:13

@Fiercestcalm

Robert Hardy ( such gravitas versatile actor) Richard Harris as Dumbledore, for me, he was the true embodiment of what I had imagined
Definitely Richard Harris as Dumbledore. Michael Gambon did a great job of playing the part, but Richard Harris just was Dumbledore.
Deathraystare · 14/04/2021 09:09

Loathed Terry Wogan.

Agree re Jeremy Hardy and Linda Smith - just to hear their voices would perk me up! Loved John Peel.

Candleabra · 14/04/2021 09:10

Alan Coren

Nicolastuffedone · 14/04/2021 09:17

Jack & Vera in Corrie....it’s never been the same since!
