Has anyone applied for PIP recently (throughout the pandemic)? I have applied previously and remember it been lots of forms but I have just looked again and it seems it's just a phone call and you tell them the details?

I had to go for a number of assessments before, are these still happening does anyone know?

Hi Hairbo. I’ve suggested to Mumsnet that they set up a new disability board so that threads like yours don’t get lost.

If you think that’s a good idea please let them know on this thread here:

You might already have your answer by now, but the initial phonecall is just to ask them to send the forms to you.

Assessments have then been taking place over the phone once they receive the completed forms back from you.

Yes and it's a huge form and supporting docs also a phonecall to start it rolling and get the forms , then an assessment if they feel it's needed. X

Face to face assessment states in May again.

Babyroobs · 30/04/2021 22:04

It is not just a phone call, the process has not changed it's just that face to face assessments have not been taking place, it has been mainly done by phone. There also seems to be big backlogs, so things are taking longer than normal. I guess no face to face assessments can work well for some.

Voice0fReason · 30/04/2021 22:44

The phone call assessments that they do after they have received your form are very thorough - about an hour.
They are returning to face to face in the next few weeks.

I applied for DS in Jan as I applied to be his appointee. Returned forms by early March, sent masses of evidence. Phone assessment tomorrow and am pretty nervous about it.

I applied last summer. Got it in December.

Whole process for me took around five months.

It's very long winded but in my experience they were super.

I applied for ds in October as he'd turned 16. Already his appointee for dla.

Phone assessment in feb and award sent in March.

It's a very heavy form but I found the explanations on how to complete each section clear.
