If you are leaving a band 6 NHS job in England, that you've been doing for years, how much notice do you have to give?

8 weeks generally

36degrees · 12/04/2021 20:50

I had to give 4 weeks.

NamechangeTTC · 12/04/2021 20:51

(Scotland) but our entire trust is now 12 weeks irrespective of grade

thedevilinablackdress · 12/04/2021 20:52

It varies depending on what's in your contact I believe.

36degrees · 12/04/2021 20:52

To clarify, it was 4 weeks for an external move but for an internal move at the same grade the department heads came to an agreement that lined up with work planning.

Bairnsmum05 · 12/04/2021 21:27

Scotland, 4 weeks.

Your trust set their own guidance, your manager also has some say and can let you go before your notice is worked. Our trust is 8 weeks for Amy band over band 4.

sourcreamnchives · 12/04/2021 21:40

Two months

Mumof1andacat · 12/04/2021 21:43

In my trust is 8 weeks for band 5 and above

Miljea · 13/04/2021 11:13

Thanks.

Depends what your trust policy is. Check your contact. In my last trust it was 16 weeks. Current one is 4 weeks.

Look at your contract some of the more recent contracts for sixes and sevens are now three months but you might find yours is one or at most two months if it's older
