Separated 50 % custody dealing with emotions

Hi I’ve got 50 per cent custody but when the kids go back I literally feel so upset n cry I miss them so much. They are 8 n 5. We had a great Easter then they had to have the second week with the other parent.
Does anyone else cry like howl when they’re gone. Does it get easier?

Oh poor you. It is so hard. I used to find it so difficult to begin with (mine are adults now) . It did get easier though. Meanwhile try to fill your time with things you wouldn't find so easy to do if you had the kids there. Not helped by restrictions obviously.

Is there something you would enjoy that would be harder if you had them? Watch something you fancy on telly before 9 o'clock? Some foods that they wouldn't like? An activity, even if that is a longer walk at the moment?

Sending you a big hug. It will get easier.

Hey thanks for taking time to reply. Yeah sound advice. I gave up a lot when i started doing my own childcare and invested so much time in them. I find it hard to start doing what i should be doing at work. Its just raw emotions which is stupid i know but just feel empty. I posted just to see if others felt exactly the same which helps me, so thanks

Not stupid at all. It's hard. I used to weep. It did get easier though. Flowers

You're not alone, when DS was younger I used to cry after dropping him off. However it gets lots easier as you develop your own routine... I used to go for a morning swim followed by coffee and cake in a shop in town, meet a friend in the afternoon, blast clean the house in the late afternoon.
