DS7 birthday next month and I'm struggling with ideas! Can't do anything he wants like bowling, swimming or trampoline park as they're all still closed and will be for a while. Last year he didnt have a party at all, so he's desperate to have his friends from school do something for this year. still needs to be outside!
Any suggestions?
So far, I've got .....tresure hunt thru local woods-local lady does this, looks fun with plenty wee prizes
or.....hire a bouncy castle-our garden too small but it'll go on the grass next to garden and invite kids round (still outside) for sugar induced bouncing and bbq.
or.....yeah thats it so far. not very exciting. Any suggestions welcome thanks!

Sciencey kind of children's entertainer? One I remember did giant bubbles (that kids could stand in) and a thing where there was a kind of slightly inflatable flying carpet that was like a lilypad and you could push a leaf blower into it which could lift you about 6cm off the floor to hover.

Slime making (ditto from an entertainer, best outside).

Giant lego hire, depending on numbers?

For my DS I got some nerf laser tag guns and met friends in a park for laser tag, fizzy drinks and cake.

Could you go-kart? Toboggan?

Do you have a garden? If so, hire a hot tub for the weekend. One afternoon have his mates round and either get pizzas or bbq and hot tub.

thanks for suggestions, forgot to say we're semi rural so we are limited! there is go karting and tubing but its an hour drive away, we'll likely do that as a family day out! Giant lego sounds fab, but nothing round here!
we've had a hot tub for DD's birthday a few years ago which was great, water fight was fun!!
the only thing is would they be allowed in the house to toilet/change etc?
just being aware of restrictions-we'll be tier 3/4 by May.

Legally? No telling. Would I allow it regardless? Yes.

No joy on hot tub, only one company in our area and its fully booked already. looking at bouncy castle hire now. I'll needd to check the castles are disinfected tho!

I’ve done a lot of treasure hunts for this age group and they always go down well.

interesting as there's a local lady just set up in business doing kids treasure hunts, she's meant to be really good. I've messaged her, I think they'd like it! then bbq back at ours maybe! Bunch of 8 year olds high on sugar bouncing about the woods!! Grin

Just be aware that if you are in England it's limit of 6 including you until 17 May then (I think) it's 30 outside. They can use the toilet inside but that's it under regs until 17, after that 6 are allowed inside

BackAffYaSpookyBint · 11/04/2021 22:43

cheers@moochingtothepub I'm in Scotland so its slightly different.
the party will be days before the restrictions are eased to allow indoor socialising. Close enough I think we can risk it!

Have you got any crazy golf courses near you?

That could be a fun outdoor activity.

BackAffYaSpookyBint · 12/04/2021 22:07

No crazy golf courses near us either but thanks, I never thought of that!
Think it'll be treasure hunt with his friends then a treat trip to go karting in june once everything reopens!! :)
