8 yo girl party any ideas

My dd birthday is end of may. I really want her to have some sort of gathering with a few friends depending on covid rules as she was in lockdown last year.

If dd could have her way it would be all Disney Princess but I don't think any of the friends she would invite would be into that and I'm worried about the brutal honesty of girls at this age!!

Any ideas welcome? I'm so stuck because for me it's an in between age with some of the girls being 8 since September and my dd still being 'young'.

I need the time to prepare because I work ft. I have a big garden and enough room in the house so having it at my home would not be a problem I just cannot think of any ideas!

I get what you mean about scathing remarks - I have definitely witnessed that with 8year olds! Party-wise, I’ve done a craft-based one in my garden recently for this age which went well. But another idea might be to hire a hot tub and have a tropical party? We’ve done that just with our immediate family during lockdown, think it would also work for a small group of friends - weather in May should be good for that kind of thing!

Mine are planning a junior bake off party. Gazebo with tables and bunting. I’m planning on them creating their own pizzas each. Whilst I cook them
Inside they can decorate cup cakes. Then judge and eat them, Each child will win some type of star baker prize which will be their party bag.

Someone I know hired a hot tub for a dd’s party at around that age. It went down very well.

Ok I wanted a hot tub so I'm looking to see if I can buy one. Do the girls just sit in it and be happy? Sorry if I'm being daft! I don't really understand 8 year olds Grin

I also bought a gazebo last weekend for the birthday just in case but I'm a bit mad and thought it would come in handy even though I have no actual plans so far. It's only 2.5x2.5m though and I haven't put it up yet to see how many people can go in it.
